May Walking Challenge

This is continued from previous Walking Challenges, but its nice when each month has its own thread.

*** Anyone can join in at any time, the more the merrier, lets keep each other motivated****

Walking seems like the easiest way to start getting exercise, and even if you can't track distance (or don't want to), tracking time is good too...go for a 10 min walk after dinner, or up it to 30 minutes, you'll be amazed at the end of the month how much more exercise your getting in. :)

Check in everyday with how far you walked or how long, this is just to motivate us to get in at least some exercise everyday, and keep an eye on each other.

I want to try to keep this mostly to walking or walking type exercising. treadmills and ellipticals are A-OK.

Hope to see some more faces in this challenge, we'll start tracking May 1st.

Hi, I am Ana and would like to join. I am borderline diabetic and my husband just had a cardiac scare - he has a family history, but what seems like heart trouble is looking like it might be anxiety. He is probably about 30 lbs overweight to my 50. We have just started eating differently, following the www.choosemyplate.gov guidelines, and agree that wailking and elliptical is probably the easiest way we can start getting back into shape and into healthier habits. This challenge is just what I need!

For today, I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, so here it goes!

    May 6 - 20 minutes
Total for month - 20 minutes

Well, the walking boot is off and the walking shoes are back on. I am not going to track it for minutes, but I went on a field trip to the planetary with my son yesterday and walkied my fanny off :blushing: We made so many trips up and down the stairs trying to see everything, I definately felt the burn!

60 minutes for me today. I had a lovely walk outside with my 2 youngest children as we decided to walk to our field trip instead of drive.

I did a lot of walking over the weekend, but it wasn't to much point and purpose. Just doing what I had to get done. I'm hoping for a better week this week,

My Dears, I have not forgotten you. My husband, in an effort to keep me from hurting myself running (again), bought me a bike for Mother's Day. I don't think that I have ridden a bike for 20 years. I feel like I'm about 10 years old, it has been so much fun. It is true when they say, "It's like riding a bike." It all comes back to you, except of course for the muscles that you used to have and the toughened up backside that comes from long summer days of being young.

Trying to get back at it again. We had a long weekend here in Ontario
and we just put our boat in the water so I hope to get back on track soon.
I am still logging and my exercise has been slow lately.
I hope to pick up by next week.

I got in a good 30 mins today, and I jogged over half of it. At the time I thought I was about to die, but now I feel great! Haha!
My average was 4 to 4.5 mph.

I got an accidental walk in yesterday when my bike got a flat tire a mile and a half from my house. Incidentally, walking feels so good after a bike ride!
