Hi all!
I joined MFP a little while ago. Maybe a few months? Filled in the forms. Left it at that. A couple of weeks ago I thought I really should give it a serious try. I'm currently 116.4kg (263lb) and I'm stuck.
I can't even imagine a time where I feel or look good. I am so jealous of people that can run and jump and move about without pain. Deep down I don't think I believe I can do it and that I will always be fat. I don't want to be! It's just. so. hard!
I'd love to find the support I need here, but also to be able to offer support to others who are feeling the same way.

Hi and Welcome!
Feel free to add me. I'm about the same age as you and I'm losing weight so I can look awesome on my 30th later this year.
We can do this together!!0 -
We've all been there! You can do it as long as you remember you are not alone! When you feel like you are sinking or making bad choices, come and post. A lot of people will be here to cheer you on! We're all in this together!0

Welcome back! You can do it! And yes. . .when starting out it's really hard to believe in yourself. Give it all you've got, and if you fall short (because we all do at some point), just give it all you've got the next day. I used to be 252 pounds and I had just resolved to always be fat too. . .now I'm around 152 and it's crazy to think about!
Good for you for making the decision. Good luck and enjoy your new healthy lifestyle!0 -
I know exactly where your coming from goodluck0

I'll be blunt, but it's only to help.
You are not "Stuck". You choose not to take action to a healthier lifestyle.
Live by this..... Decide. Choose. Act. Succeed.
Ask yourself...What is it I WANT? Define it. Realize it. See it. Become aware of what it is that will get you that which you desire.
Choose the right options before you - In using MFP, you will recognize what choices are in front of you as to what you are ingesting on a level like never before.
Take Action - Dont just choose to be healthier. LIVE IT. Do what you need to do. Take action on the choices that will bring you success. Know that there are NO Shortcuts.
90% of your battle starts in the head. 5% is knowledge. 5% is taking action. It is easier than you think...for as humans, we over-think regularly.
I wish you well on your journey0 -
Hi,
I just joined and am looking forward to my new beach body. I have been struggling with my weight and "appearance' issues since my early teens. But I am just ready to move forward in my life. I have a goal weight of 125lbs.I am not far numerically, but I really want to get tone and get fit. Really embrace a healthier life. Any tips, advice you have to offer would be really appreciated. I started this site because it seemed like a great way to get motivated and maintain.0 -
Thanks, I've added you
I am hoping that making friends on here has the same effect on me. Today is the first day I've really filled things in and so far so good. Now just gotta keep it up!0 -

I totally, 100% agree. We all know what needs to be done and I often start doing it. When I start doing well, however, I seem to start sabotaging myself. I am starting to recognise that pattern now which is a big step forward. I know I have a lot of work in my head to do. People that have never had weight problems don't understand the 90% thing. In my experience they just see the 5%. If only!0 -

That is an amazing achievement and so very inspiring!0 -
its a slow process...dont be so hard on yorself....you have to build into it. When you are starting a new diet regimen and exercise regimen, you are also training your mind..take baby steps....one week you may huff and puff when you walk for 20 mins, but after a week or 2, you will realize youre not doing that anymore and will push yourself to go further. ...Make sure you eat 6 micro meals, keep something coming in every couple of hours , so your body doesnt go into starvation mode....i will be around if you need me....ive just started again after a 3 yr break with no exercise...i am a previous martial arts instructor. You have to discipline your mind. Good Luck and DONT give up. :flowerforyou:0

I am new to the site and I do understand what you mean. I push myself, loose some weight or inches, get comfortable and I'm back at square one. I'm not sure how to request/add friends yet but once I do, I will add you!!!!0

Trace, I can so relate... So, just know you are NOT alone! The last time I remember being skinny was 4. I've been fat all of my life and it's no wonder. I learned a lot from my family who are all overweight. My mother HAD to have gastric bypass surgery in 2003 as she was at a life threatening weight of almost 500 lbs. I'm 200 lbs away from that. So, while that's still far away it's still SO close. While the surgery has altered her life (she's around 230 now) drastically it was more painful than I could have dreamed. So, I deeply want to avoid that.
But my real motivation came from two things. A picture of me 5 years ago, 17 and slightly smaller (okay about 65 lbs smaller) around 230. I looked so much more "beautiful." I truly felt that way looking at those pictures. And also a video of myself a couple of weeks ago. It was HORRIFYING how big I appeared - no, I am.
So, here I am again, 9 months later on MFP with a motivation like I've never felt before. All of my life I've always made excuses for myself and felt as you felt. I'll ALWAYS be fat. I'll always be that BIG girl that no one thinks is beautiful. But I've also always been very good at achieving goals in school and at work with the right motivation, determination, and information. What makes this any different? NONE.
So, now, I've found it's SO true. As BigDaddyBRC it's 90% the battle of the mind. If you truly BELIEVE you can overcome this, and make time to do this YOU CAN. But it's also important to be reasonable. Don't wear yourself down in the first week, but don't make it as easy as 1-2-3.
I've started this journey a billion times. And failed every-single-time. This time will be different because I will make it so (and with God's help, thankfully!)
I'd be very happy if you'd add me and keep in touch. I'm still fresh at this but this time is legit. I hope we both can win this battle!
Sorry so lengthy. I'm like to type too much. ;P
EDIT: Also, if you want some good encouragement Grab "The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl." It's a true story of a very large, young girl. You can even read her blog at dietgirl . org It's VERY encouraging.0
