Can someone review my food diary and make suggestions?

Can someone look at my diary and suggest any changes I should be making? I've been changing the way I eat and exercising for about a month now and have not really seen any changes on the scale (though I haven't taken any measurements lately to check if there were any changes there). I'm 5'2" and want to lose about 10-15lbs to reach my goal weight. I'm a vegetarian. Aside from recommending changes to my food, do you have any exercise suggestions? I usually try to do about 10-15 miles on the elliptical/treadmill/rowing machine per week, usually split between 3 days of 5 miles each.

Note: anywhere where it says "dal" in my food diary means lentils. Sometimes I've added things just for the number of calories and the macros haven't been filled in from the food database.

Thank you!

from looking at ur week u have a very high sodium intake... that may be ur problem...
  • I think you need to eat more raw veggies and fruit. Some of the stuff you eat I had to google (like the Masala Khakra) because I didn't know what they are, but it seems like you don't eat much raw veggies. Both my husband and I have lost a significant amount of weight just by eating at least one salad every day with dinner, it helps to keep us from eating to much at dinner, and the fiber is really beneficial. Also, work out more. Staying active is really important for health, not just losing weight. Aside from the machines you do, I'd recommend trying a workout dvd or something--I swear by Jillian Michael's 30 day shred--it really gets your results and is only a 27 minute workout (search 30DS results in the forums and see what comes up). The key with working out is to increase intensity and change it up when you stall out on weight loss. Good luck!

I'm not sure what the other commenter saw with respect to your sodium but it seems to be within a reasonable range. You are also getting good protein, so that's likely not the issue. You may want to address your sugar, though - that seems to be over every day. I realize that some of it comes from fresh stuff, but there is some coming from other sources.

    Just my two cents.

Thanks a lot for your replies. I've realized I don't get a lot of veggies in, which is one of the reasons I've started having green smoothies every night. Also, part of my sugar also comes from milk. I like to drink a lot of milk and don't have a lot of calories or sugar to spare to drink it! I will give 30DS a try (again). I gave up the first time because of the intensity (and the pain the next day!).
