First 5K

I just signed up for my first 5K that I would like to jog/run instead of the typical walk I do. It's one month from now and would like to know tips and facts on how to get myself prepared for this. Ideas?

Google couch to 5k (c25k) it trains u to run 5k in 9 weeks. U obviously won't complete the program in time for ur run but at least you will be able to run part of it. The last run on week 5 in to run for 20 mins without walking.

If you're already used to covering the 5k distance, you might be able to abbreviate the C25K plan to fit or at least get you close. Maybe start at week three if you're able, which would get you up to running about 2.5 miles in a month. And once you get race day endorphins kicking in, adding an extra 6/10th of a mile shouldn't be a problem.

And even if you DO have to squeak in a couple of walk intervals, there's no shame in that at all. I won first in age group last week with a few walk intervals. I've been running about a year and a half.
