Frustrated by injury!

I was doing so good for the last 3 weeks! I was exercising and eating well and I've lost 5 pounds already. Well I was starting up running again as that is my go to cardio to lose weight. I was doing fine, a little muscle stiffness but not bad. Then boom, last week I had real bad pains in my knees. I stopped running and did some light walking, but even that was making it worse. I took it easy this weekend, thinking I might start up slowly again today, but no, I'm pretty laid up today. I went to the doctor and she says I have patellar tendonitis and need to take it easy and slowly get back to working out. She says it varies in how quickly I heal, but to continue would only aggravate it worse and could cause more damage. So here I am, can barely walk let alone run. I did some light weight lifting with my dumbells concentrating on upper body and also did some quad and hamstring strengthening exercises as she said that will help take the load off my knees. Anyways, I'm just frustrated as I'm afraid that I'll ruin any progress I made so far. I am eating my base calories as I really didn't do much today, but I'm normally a buzz around the house kinda person and can't even do that easily. This kinda sucks, but I know I should rest.

I know the feeling. I have a swollen ankle and a partly torn tendon in my shoulder. I can't even work at the opposite end of my body! Take heart in the fact that you can at least do weights with your upper body.

Can you swim? I was recommended that with almost any injury, that it one of the best ways to keep up the exercise. If you can't, find a shallowish pool and walk in the water, do high knees, kick your thighs, you could even use hand wieghts to add some more resistance and upper body at the same time.

Keep your chin up. It is NOT easy, but we will all get through if we stick together.
