I found this interesting and thought I'd share.
I was reading up on carcinogens and anti-carcinogens for my Chem final and found some info in my book I thought I'd share.
"Nearly two-thirds of all cancer deaths in the United States are linked to tobacco, diet, or lack of exercise with resulting obesity." Moreover, a graph on the following pages shows the percentages, 30% tobacco, 30 % Adult diet (obesity), 5% sedentary lifestyle, 3% Alcohol, and salt food additives and contaminates making up 1% of cancer deaths. The rest are things like genetics, environment, etc. Still this number is MASSIVE. Taking a look at known carcinogens shows that MOST are made up what are know as benzene rings with other things added on. Guess what processed foods are rich in?
Now an anti-carcinogen is something that is known to decrease the risk of cancer. Known anti-carcinogens include vitamins A, C, and E. "A diet rich in cruciferous [sic] vegetables (cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, and cauliflower) has been shown to reduce the incidence of cancer both in animals and in human population groups."
Anyway, thought this was interesting and thought I'd share. So eat your veggies!

Support My Fight Against Women's Cancers
They call it the whisperer "ovarian cancer".It comes knocking softly with subtle signs, ones that go unnoticed. It lies within and doesn't show it's ugly face until the end stages. 8 years ago at the age of 30, I was a victim of ovarian cancer while pregnant with my youngest daughter. This was a devastating experience that still leaves me wondering how and why? Well those answers are the reason we commit ourselves to supporting the cause. We need to stand together and beat this thing into the riches of the soil, where our nutrients are found for survival. Come join me on May 12th, 2012 @ the Los Angeles Collisium by walking with me in the fight against women cancers. You and I can make a change.
Please find it in your heart to support the cause by joining my team and or leaving a donation, Every dollar counts toward saving a life. Don't let Cancer come knocking at your door, stop cancer in it's tracks!!!!
