Runners: Power Song?
I am desperate to find some new Power Songs for running - my play list is fabulous until I get to about 45 minutes in and it starts repeating or slowing wayyyy down - anyone have a Power Song that just kicks your butt back into gear and makes you want to run??? Im going to be in trouble with my first half-marathon if I dont find some more music lol.

For speed: "I've been everywhere" - Johnny Cash. "Punk Rock Girl" - Dead Milkmen. And anything by LMFAO.
For "keep going at a steady pace," I'd go with "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" - Rembrandts, "Jackie Wilson Said" - Dexys Midnight Runners, "Chelsea Dagger" - Fratellis.
I always thought angry metal would make me push harder, and I feel all badass and powerful, but I run faster and more effortlessly to happy songs.0 -

I've got a different perspective on this...
I'm against listening to music while running for two reasons:
1) It's harder to hear the sounds of traffic nearby when you've got your headphones on and that makes it more difficult crossing roads etc.
2) If the local mad axe-man decides he wants your pretty head on his china plate that evening; then at least without headphones on you may get some idea of his intentions.0 -
I have the volume low enough that I can hear all traffic, dog tags jingling, people vacuuming inside their houses, when a/c units kick on, and carry on a conversation at normal volume.
Maybe I'm a fatalist, but I figure if someone wants me dead bad enough, they'll find a way. I think there's a greater danger of someone following me home from the store and assaulting me while my hands are full of grocery bags than a chance encounter on fairly busy suburban street while I'm running. I don't run at the same time or the same routes with any kind of predictability, so it would have to be a pretty quick on the fly planning to get me.0 -
