Junk Food Junkie

I am a serious junk food junkie. I lost a few pounds several months ago and now I have gained them all back plus more! I am getting quite discouraged trying to take off this weight. I work overnights at a supermarket as a cashier and most of the employees that come through my line buy junk food and are overweight as well. I see all the "good" junk food that everyone else is eating and cannot seem to stop myself from splurging on those things as well. Even when I say no to buying the junk food, coworkers always seem to buy donuts or danish as a "treat" for us. I feel like I'm doomed no matter what! Please help with ideas and motivation!

I can have the same problem. There will always be junk food, yummy food and food we just thing we cannot live without and there will always be people selling it. Those people won't tell you "Are you sure you want to buy this because you will gain weight and be unhealthy"? I tell myself that if I really, really want to cheat I can go out and get that food anytime of the day and eat it but how will I feel afterwards? I will feel unhealthy, guilty and like a failure at keeping a promise to myself. Now that doesn't mean that a person cannot cheat every now and again but sticking to your own promise is what matters. It is hard to find that self esteem to keep a promise to yourself but you can do it. I am like an addict when it comes to food. I dream about it from the morning I get up until I go to bed. I have recently started telling myself "Why should it be any less hard for me to stop my food addiction than it is for a drug addict or an alcoholic"? Well the answer is simple...it shouldn't be easy. Unless I do it then it will simply not get done.

Make a healthy snack menu for yourself and make sure not to repeat snacks too often so you don't get tired of them. This includes, a few favorite healthy drinks you can discover, fruits, veggies and whole grain snacks. And don't forget water. Pack those snacks ahead of time to keep at your register to snack on. Even if the boss is watching you can sneak an eat without them knowing and if they say something tell them your blood sugar is dropping and you have to eat this snack. When co-workers bring dough nuts make the choice to eat something healthy instead...........I mean you work in a grocery store right? You can easily grab something better. The adventure you are about to go on won't start off easy but it will get easier because you will start feeling better about yourself on many levels. Your strength and will power is there you only need to walk through that door of commitment and fear and once you are through the sky is the limit. I may make this sound easy but it is anything but that and you will NEVER be the only one struggling with this alone. Good luck Junk Food Junkie......I mean Health Food Junkie!
