What shoes for mud?

I love trail running. I am currently running in a nice pair of reebok cross trainers which I LOVE. They are wonderful.
My issue is that they are hard to clean off as the mud gets in all of the little mesh holes and grates. I don't want them to wear down quickly so I maintain them, What do you run in and how do you handle mud?

The better question is "what shoes for running". There are a ton of good trail runner options. Brooks cascadias have always served me well, but you'll need some trial and error. A lot of trail shoes have gore-tex lining and are in darker colors so the mud doesnt show.0

if you like minimal style shoes you can try the new balance minimus, which has a 4mm heel to toe off set. It has a lug system out sole so its easy to wash the mud off without having to dig it out of every crevasse. its upper is synthetic and very breathable so when you do wash it all you have to do is set them out to dry for a couple of hours. $99
If you like more cushioned run i would try the pure grit from brooks which is also a 4mm offset with a super soft midsole called bio-mogo. it has an aggresive trad pattern but is easily cleaned. It has a lot of special features built in that just dont come in most trail shoes. its very light weight but suprisingly durable.$89
I have tried both and would highly recomend them. I am a running specialist at a major sporting goods store. if you have any questions about your gait or wether you need stability or a neutral cushioned shoe i would stop in to a speacialty running store and get your stride looked at.0 -
Salomon has a great line of trail running shoes. They have light-weight ones for summer with lots of ventilation and gore-tex waterproof ones for cooler temps, snowshoeing, etc (and everything in between).
The only trouble I find with Saloman, is that it is a brand that does not necessarily fit everyone well. I have a ton of Salomon footwear (ski boots, snowboard boots, hikers, trail running shoes), but I have heard others say that they just don't fit them well.0
