Go over on fat to meet your calorie target, or to stay below the target to stay within the fat goal? Same for other macros
I love going over on protein
I hate going over on carbs, sugar, sodium and fat.
I know you're meant to balance out the calories and fat, but sometimes its so hard! And some fats are 'good'
So what is better?

bump ^_^ im curious what peoples thoughts are0

I often eat way more fat than MFP recommends and lost 30 pounds along the way. I don't mind doing so, only because I know the fat is coming from good sources (salmon, almonds, nut butters, etc.) and not from junk food. What I do is:
Try to exceed MFP goal for protein and fiber
Try to meet calorie goals as exact as possible
Try to stay under for carbs
I don't sweat wherever the fat gram number ends up.0 -
What they said ^^^
And you can adjust your macro goals. I know what you mean though, I wish the colors didn't change to red, kinda dumb.0 -
I changed all my macros for what works for me, especially since my protein is almost double the "cookie-cutter" amount they have listed0

I want to change my macros too but wouldnt know what to set them as? :S0

I also usually go over on fat due to "good fat" (nuts) and my fitness trainer agree that's not a bad thing but does say not to go over a lot on the protein and to stay under or at with the carbs.0

If you're not exceeding your calorie intake AND if your excess consumption of fat doesn't prevent you from reaching your protein goal then I wouldn't worry about it assuming some common sense with food selection.0

This sounds good, i usually reach my goal plus more for protein and do make healthier food choices0 -
I go over my fat and protein all the time (sometimes carbs too). Just keep it under your calorie goal and within reason, and you'll be fine.0

My GOAL is to be high on protein and fiber, low on carbohydrates, and not too high on sodium. But I don't do all the great with those numbers on some days.0

I think staying under or just meeting calorie goal is the most important part. Otherwise, I try to minimize carbs and fats, but always try to meet or exceed protein. Works most of the time. :bigsmile:0
