Picked up a "Complete Body Cleansing" kit at GNC today...............has anybody done one before? Are they worth it? Should I be looking for problems? Is there anybody out there that says, "DO NOT DO THAT?" Just curious!

While this will sound like pure smart-assery on my part, the only cleansing I would recommend would be the kind you do in the shower or while washing your hands.

There's no need to do any sort of internal cleanse by drinking shakes or taking pills or (new one today) wrapping your body with a wrap. Your liver and kindeys will do what they can to cleanse toxins from your system.

Now, that being said, since I don't know the specifics of the product, my comments might not be applicable. I'm making the assumption that you bought some sort of shake or ingestible liquid that is supposed to clean you out.

I am in full agreement with the smart-assery :) Anything you lose while doing this will come right back on once you eat normally again.

Drink enough water and eat enough fiber and your body takes care of the rest - that is what your various internal organs/systems are for. No need to waste $$ on "cleansing" products.

See my initial post as the comments I made are applicable.

There is no reason to do this. It will make you lose water weight and probably poop a lot. Wouldn't you rather eat chipotle for that?

DON'T DO IT! You will be sh*tting your insides out, crying on the toilet. This comes from someone who knows, learn from me.

I don't do anything of those sorts. Mainly b/c I don't eat anything or ingest anything that would need to be cleaned out of my body. That's my feelings on the matter, the right diet, you don't need to cleanse.

Meh... I like to cleanse every now and again - a few times a year (maybe 3-4). I like ReCleanse (but can't work out much for the week because it's so dehydrating) because you eat a specific all-healthy, all-organic, no-sugar-no-salt-super-duper healthy diet for the week.

Lately I've been using Renew Life Rapid Cleanse. It's much milder; you eat normally (though healthy for sure) and from about day 2-3 onward you are, um... very regular.

I like to get regular... and my diet doesn't always do that for me.

So sometimes I cleanse to get things back on track.

Edited to add: Both are just 7 days. Nothing insane.

SideSteal's response was a more eloquent version of what my response would have been....

The best clense you could give your body is just to eat lots of nutrient rich food.. a balanced diet of fruit and vege, healthy oils, protein, starchs and dairy. Literally your body will start flushing itself out all on its own and be so grateful for all this good food.. Don't forget the 2ltrs per day and 3ltrs on days that you do exercise :-)
