I recently had a rather small tattoo on my ankle covered up with a rather large tattoo. Ive never had a tattoo this large before and I know the healing process is a little different , but im curious if swelling is normal? Theres kinimal redness and its not painful to the toych except for a few small areas, but overall my ankle is sore and swollen. I know its a sensitive area and more prone to swellung because its my lower leg and foot. Any insight would be appreciated as im not used to larger tattoos. Thanks!!!

I would say it could be normal like you said of it being your lower leg, maybe start elevating it at times during the day or...GOOGLE it!!! :-)

Swelling is pretty common, especially with a larger tattoo. No worries.

Swelling is normal..I got a larger tattoo a few months ago and had some swelling. It was gone within a week

Perfectly normal. If you think about it, your skin has been repeatedly punctured so your body is reacting to heal it. Just follow the aftercare instructions and take asprin or ibuprofen (if you are not allergic to them) if you want to get the swelling down faster.

I've only got one tattoo but my skin really puffed up afterwards and felt bruised for a week. Totally worth it! :)
