Trying to quit Energy Drinks

I LOVE energy drinks, both the taste and how I feel after I've finished one (I sound like I have a problem...). In my head I say this is ok, because I drink the sugar free ones with little to no calories. I also justify this as they are my one vice...I workout, eat healthy, rarely drink, don't smoke, and have never tried any drugs. So...it's all good...right?

In my opinion, I don't have a lot of them. I have one in the morning, just like those regular coffee drinkers out there (I hate coffee). Days were I don't get enough sleep the night before, I'll have another one just after lunch (maybe three times a week). I know I can't have any after 3 in the afternoon or it will effect my sleep.

Well, I've decided that my justifications are no longer cutting it. I'm trying to make a shift towards being a healthier overall person, eating more organic foods, staying more positive as a whole. Because of this...I think it's time to say goodbye to my beloved energy drinks. I know I will miss them and this makes me sad :( But what I really feel bad about, is what my co-workers and friends are about to endure! Maybe I should just hid in my bed for the next few days..... :)

Anyways, I had, what I hope is, my last energy drink this morning. I'll keep you all posted. Any words of advice or similar experiences are welcome!

If you drink that many of them I wouldn't suggest going cold turkey on them unless you are extrenely strict. It would might be better for you to cut down to every other day, then every 2-3 days and so on until you are totally off of them. This will help ease the caffiene withdrawls you'll go through.

Thanks, I've tried that in the past, but one leads to another...I'd rather just try and get it out of the way. But yes... I'm already anticipating the headaches that will come with this...

This is NO fun by the way. Super tired and having a hard time focusing, but at least I only had a mild headache for a few hours yesterday and that was all. I'm craving sweets though, this surprised me.

Well...I made it!!! Took about 6 days for the headaches, cravings for sweets, and zero energy level to go away. I feel so much better now. I think I may actually have more energy then I did before drinking those things. I'll still have one now and then for sure (especially if I need to study for a while!), but hopefully never go back to one or two each day.
  • Are you still off them? I quit for 3 months (and your original post sounded EXACTLY like mine), however a year later, I'm back to 3 - 4 a day!!! Time to at least get down to 1 a day I think... My life isn't any slower or less stress, but really need to find an alternative for the buzz and to get through the day!
