Frozen Meals

So I eat frozen meals religiously. I mean one for lunch and one for dinner 5 days / week. I mean I understand they are bad for you when it comes to sodium, but why else? If I watch my sodium intake, will this eating habit be ok? They just have this negative vibe to them and I was wondering if I could get an more detailed explanation. Thanks!

I think they are highly processed and full of preservatives. The cheap ones at least have a bunch of trans fat (banquet).

I'm sure if you shop around and don't mind shelling out for the pricier ones that it wouldn't be that bad (if you watch the sodium). They aren't the devil just because they are frozen and convenient, mostly its just because of the cheap fillers and crap. My local grocery store has a nice variety of steamable meals that are pretty ok healthwise.

Fresh is usually best. But frozen meals are great for portion control and knowing your calorie count.

You will have people come in here and tell you that you can't lose weight eating frozen meals. They're liars. You most definitely can. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water though to help offset the sodium. I would also look at ways of subbing in one or two fresh meals a week.

I usually eat Amy's, Kashi, LeanCuisine, and sometimes Healthy Choice. Are these ok?

I switched form Frozen to Fresh & Easy.. If there is a Fresh & Easy store near you, I would recommend it!!

I've been eating Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones and the Kashi steam meals, and I've had some success with weight loss. Of course, I usually only eat them for dinner, too. I also LOVE the Morningstar Lasagna...but most of their other stuff is loaded with calories. The lasagna is under 300 and pretty good on other nutrients as well.

If you watch calories, you should be pretty good!
