Sore & Low energy, rest day?

I've just started incorporating fitness into my life.

I started one week ago and have allowed one rest day which was friday.

I'm currently doing 60 mins of cardio daily, plus I'm an "active" stay at home mom (cooking, cleaning, walks to the park, etc.)
Yesterday I decided to try 30 day shred at my sons nap time + 1hr of cardio at night.

I've been consuming 1200-1300 daily and yesterday I tried eatting then back.

I'm feeling extreme fatigue today. Not to mention I am sore in my back and arms.

Is it time for a rest day or do I push through it?

REST DAY! You can push through and have a so-so workout... and then the following days might probably be so-so also because you haven't regained your energy and strength. Rest and sleep are equally as important to food and diet.

I know how you feel- when I began I thought I cant stop and pushed way too hard in the beginning. I have at least 1-2 rest days a week and I've had more success than ever since I did that. And if I get burnt out before my scheduled rest day I just continue on the next day.

Also, make sure you consume enough protein esp if you're feeling so sore!

It's funny that you say to eat more protein, I'm actually making fish because I'm craving it (which I don't normally).

I guess my body knows what it needs better than I do :)

I feel the same way you do! Today, I am going to have my rest day. Taking the dog for a walk, and then walking to and from the gorcery store to loosen up a bit :)

As long as you feel you can do Friday in place of today, take a rest day. Or just go for a walk so you don't feel guilty.

A rest day is a good thing. Also, not sure exactly what type of cardio you're doing but you might consider switching it up. Don't do the same routine every day. Your muscles need time to heal if you are just starting out. I also agree with the increase in protein to aid with the healling process. Also, you may actually need to increase your calorie intake to combat the fatigue. I workout 5 days a week (hard) and rest the weekend. Hope this helps. Keep it up and best wishes.

Those are all good ideas. I think I will take a rest day in place of Friday and go for a light walk to the park.

As for cardio, I've been doing 60 MIN./DAY on the hill setting on my treadmill. With the incline alternating from 5%-7%. The speed is set at 4 mph.

i really think you should eat more, no wonder you are exhausted.
