I know all about BMR & TDEE but have a question!

So, I recently figured out my TDEE was ~2250 and I want to lose 1lb a week, so I made MFP goal 1750.

Since my goal is based on my TDEE, I should be only eating 1750 right? I work out 8x a week, doing a mix of intense and non-intense stuff.

I realized that today, I ate 2000 cals, but in reality since I burned ~400 at the gym, I am netting 1600 and around 1200 the other days... am I supposed to be NETTING 1750 a day? Even though, in MFP goals I accounted for my TDEE?? I thought you weren't supposed to eat back exercise cals then..

The reason I am "worried" is because my BMR is 1580. So I am still eating under my BMR every day, and I honestly can't fathom eating like over 2,000 cals a day.. so much food. Today was a day that like never happens, haha!

    When you figured your TDEE, were you including your exercise? If so then you shouldn't eat your exercise calories back because they're already accounted for. You'd be eating them twice.

    Tdee includes exercise and your tdee is not 2250, its more like 2800. With that being the case you should aim for 2300 calories total. Also why do you workout 8x a week? A body needs rest ro repair itself. If you dont let it, it may not release the fat and you may not include strength. Also you are pretty close to your goal so 1 lb may be too aggressive and may need to reduce the deficit to 250-300.

    You are correct. You should be Netting 1750. Although, as others have said... What is your activity level set to? It should be set accordingly to what you do throughout the day or on a rest day. If you are selecting "active" thinking "oh we'll I'll be working out x times per week". Then your exercise calories are already accounted for. If you are truly that active throughout the day BEFORE exercise, then yes eat back those calories to hit your NET calorie goal.

    I do take 2-3 days off in a row each week. My workouts are sometimes 2 a day, a yoga class and a hip hop. or stretching class and kick boxing. I am not going like.. hardcore 8x a week, :) Thanks so much for the advice. It's just so hard to fathom eating over 2k cals.

    I set MFP goals to active to "pretend" to be my TDEE. During the day, I am at the computer, walking around the mall, shopping etc. Right, I didn't think I was supposed eat exercise cals back either I was just wondering if it was okay (for lack of a better word) to be netting 1200-1400 a day.

    Lets put it like this, i have 36+ year old women eating 2000+ calories with strength training only workouts. So considering you are younger and doing cardio workouts then 2000+ calories isnt a far stretch.
