Hi All!

I have LOADS of rice in my house: wild, brown, sticky thai, arborio.

I'm not sure what to do with it all.

What do you do with your rice? How do you flavour it? What sauces do you serve it with?

I need to start using it up but i dont know what to do with it other than normal and egg fried rice lol (or risotto with the arborio)

Looking forward to hearing all your rummy ideas

Katie

I cook up random veggies, add chicken and put it over rice. All the time. It's so yummy. :)

Eggs - over easy. Then, mix it all together and get the runny yellow mixed with the rice. It's the best.

Tonight I'm making cilantro lime rice to go with some fish.

I also made a beefed up 'dirty' rice the other day.

    * soy sauce
    * I make a pilaf: sautee some onions (maybe garlic) and then put the rice in, toast it for a bit and cook as ususal
    * Make coconut rice (see above, add ginger, replace 1/3 of the liquid with coconut milk)
    * Make a pan sauce from your meat dish: once it is done cooking, take the meat out, add some broth, turn up the heat, scrape up the brown bits, add herbs if you want. Add salt and pepper to taste. Turn off the heat. (it should reduce to slightly thick) Add a little bit of butter

When your veggies are getting to the point you know you need to use them up, make a stir fry to put on your rice:
    cut them all up
throw hardest veggies in a little oil or water first
add veggies according to the quickest cooking last
before they are done, add a little soy sauce or get a packet of zero cal gravy or sauce mix and mix it with water to throw on them
serve over your rice, any kind of rice will be good

of course, a little meat makes it best, but not necessary.

And where did you find sticky thai rice? I thought it was a very involved recipe. I would love to make it if I could find some that didn't involve cheesecloth and all kinds of time.
