So I have an odd question, when MFP gives you your goal calories, are you supposed to eat as close to your goal as possible, or should you aim to eat a little less then?

Also when you burn calories from exercise, it adds to the amount your allowed to eat, are you supposed to eat what you burned, or just leave those?

Sorry for the silly question but I am not 100% sure, so if anyone could give me some answers that would be appreciated!! :)

Try to eat what your target is +/- maybe 50 calories. When MFP figures out your target, the weight loss is already built in (or gain, depending on your goal)... just make sure you have your goal set correctly. Also, yes, when you exercise, you should eat much of those calories back, because (again) there's already a weight loss deficit calculated in based on the lifestyle question you answered.

Its not odd at all, I was wondering the same thing lol so I cam here looking for the answer. Just started this almost two weeks ago and want to make sure I'm doing this the right way. Guess I'll have to follow answers to your post to help me out.

thank you so much!! i always thought you wanted to eat just under your target and left what you exercised, so some days id have eaten my goal but worked out and had 200-500 calories and didnt know what to do.... so i am supposed to eat (if im hungry) till it says i have little to no calories left to eat?

And is it bad if you have that many left over calories?? could it effect your weight loss?

You are supposed to eat as close to the number as possible - +/-50 if you can.

Yes, MFP wants you to eat back your exercise calories. So if your goal is 1500 and you burn 400 on exercise, eat another 400 calories. A little bit under probably isn't a big deal, but a few hundred calories is probably too much to be under.
