What has been your most helpful tool

I have $100 I received as a master's graduation gift. I decided I'm going to spend it on myself and buy something I want, not something I NEED which is what I usually do. I've lost 24 pounds so far and think I deserve a reward! I want to buy something to help me continue to lose weight.

What would you buy if you had $100 to spend that would be very helpful either in eating healthy or exercising or tracking food weight etc?

    Heart rate monitor. I've always exercised, but the HRM really helped me see things.

    I would buy a fitbit, wish I could afford one, right around $100.

    A digital kitchen scale. Can't be without it.

    Sorry it's not anything fun just what helped me the most during my journey.

    A kitchen scale, although a good one is a lot less than $100. I attribute about 90% of my success to being able to weigh out food. And it's useful for baking too.

    A Polar heart rate monitor. New workout shoes (nike) or an outfit that will motivate you to continue. :smile:

    You can get the ChaLEAN Extreme Circuit Training System from BeachBody for about $100. It has strength training and cardio workouts. I love it!

    I recently spent approximately $100 on a good pair of running shoes. It's been a great investment.

    First off, CONGRATULATIONS on your graduation!

    My favorite gadgets (by order of importance, IMO) Polar HRM (one with a chest strap), good workout shoes, digital kitchen scale.

    I don't have a particular brand that I go by, but I believe a digital one is FAR better than a manual one.

    I have the Oxo scale, which works great. It's around $50; there are likely cheaper ones. Definitely get one that does both English and metric measurements.

    well. what kinda workouts you like doing? For example, I like to walk so I bought me a pedometer. I also like to box so my next purchase would be new gloves. So basically tools that'll make your workouts better

    Even though I have an HRM and food scale which I find extremely important, I find that I'm constantly boosting my activity level throughout the entire day by using my fitbit. It tracks my walks and even my hikes pretty well. Of course, when I go shopping or walk around at all, that's covered too. It's encouraged me to walk hills and stairs far more often because of it as well.

    Congratulations!
    Like the ideas already here. My most helpful tool is probably MFP, but some other ideas for rewards or motivation to continue:
    * a good yoga mat (saw a really nice, thick one with great texture for about $65 more than I'm splurging right now)
    * stock up on some favorite, expensive, healthy foods
    * exercise step or weights
    * exercise DVD
    * music, iPod, MP3 player or some other way to add music to walk, dance or exercise
    * membership in an exercise club, Y, swimming pool pass, etc.
    * clothes to celebrate your new size
    obviously, what will work best for you depends on what you've done so far and your personal preferences.
