I have been taking a Vitamin B Complex for awhile now but dont really notice a difference in my energy levels. This one is formulated with Vitamin C but I just read that C can decrease absorption of B Vitamins. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good B Complex supplement? Thanks!

Is there a reason that you feel your diet is lacking in the B vitamins?0

Yes - because I cant pick my head up off of my desk on most days. I try to fall asleep while driving, etc. I havent been tested for a B deficiency but I am hoping that taking a supplement will give me a little boost so that I can function throughout the day. I am hypthyroid and a bunch of other stuff that gives you almost chronic fatigue and I am taking meds for all that stuff. My Endo says my levels are normal for all the medical stuff but I am still so tired that I can barely function. I am hoping B's can help.0 -
Sounds like your tiredness is not B related. I am deficient in vitamin B12 (blood work from a doctor told me I was near "dangerously low" levels). Taking B12 supplements has corrected the problem but I am no more or less tired than before. There are one hundred thousand reasons why you can be tired- it is a symptom of many things, from chronic diseases to vitamin deficiencies to plain old lack of sleep. If your lethargy is as bad as you say, you really should go to a doctor and have them run some blood work instead of throwing darts at a board, hoping something sticks.0

What about sleep apnea - could you possibly have that?0

There are various Liquid (Sublingual) Vitamin B Complexes in most vitamin sections of pharmacies...these have better absorption than the tablets (since they are already dissolved). The one you are using right now should be fine so long as you drink lots of water.
As far as Vitamin C causing absorption issues, both B vitamins and vitamin C are water soluble. Just drink plenty of water and they will dissolve and be absorbed easily. It's near impossible to OD on water soluble vitamins anyways since you just urinate them out.0 -
I recently started taking one because my physician recommends all women over 50 do. Apparently after age 50 our bodies absorb less. I haven't noticed any difference in energy level, but then I wasn't really lacking energy before. The only difference I've noticed is the bright yellow urine.
My doctor didn't recommend a brand, but I take Nature Made (I think) Sress Formula. I figured if I was going to take them I might as well reduce my stress at the same time.0 -
