Why do we do the things we do?

So I have lost 50+ pounds over the past year. I was taking a break, focusing on just maintaining my weight since February. Three weeks ago I decided to get back to it and lose the last five pounds. The first week went awesomely, I lost two pounds. I went to go weigh in today and I ended up gaining a pound, even while I have maintained a stead deficit of calories over the course of the entire week. Then it so happens one of my coworkers decided to bring in donuts (my number 1 weakness). I fended it off all morning but with my added irritation at the scale I gave in and had two donuts ( a larger one and a small one). Why the heck did those have to be brought in? I have been so good all week and I let water weight derail me and cause me to create more damage for myself then good. Why do we do these things? I know I only have 5 lbs left to lose but it sucks when a stupid number affects my emotions and causes me to be like what the hell! It won't matter anyway.... Now I don't know if I should skip lunch and dinner so that I don't gain from my stupid donut eating or what... Have any of you felt this way before?

We do what is familiar or the normal (or what used to be). We have to break mental addictions & ties to food & old habits. Don't skip out on meals, that's overall horrible for ya. Keep at the gym, keep eating right and keep logging. The last 5 pounds will come off. If you're doing a lot of exercise remember that you could be building more muscle which could lead to an increase on the scale. Scales suck and are my worst enemy.

I hear ya!! If it's not there, I'm fine... if it IS there... it's callin my name until I give in.... you know what??!! Pat yourself on the back for the 50+ pounds and give yourself a break! The fact that you felt guilty after is a good thing & let that be a reminder the next time... maybe just do 1/2 of the larger donut! It's good for us to throw our metabolism a curve ball every now 'n then to keep it "on top of things" DO NOT SKIP A MEAL to make up for it.... maybe just a lighter meal... big salad or something.... AGAIN, DON'T BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF you big LOSER (50+pound loser)
