A "fortune" is a relative term however if you're looking for a reasonably priced, reliable HRM (with a chest strap) you can't really go wrong with the Polar FT series.0

I ordered and have not received the Polar FT4 ..many MFP people use it.
If you go to Bodytronics.com website they have it pretty cheap...about $60
or you can go to sports authority (sometimes there is a coupon)
I heard it is good ..not a lot of bells and whistles .the FT7 has a lot more fancy things (again..all according to people here on the site)0 -
I started with a relatively inexpensive HRM that is only a wrist unit - I purchased it at Academy. You have to actually put your fingers on it to get your pulse. But I have now upgraded to a Polar FT7. I started with the FT4 but for oh so many reasons it didn't work out for me.
The biggest advantage (in my opinion) for the Polar is the chest strap. It's out of the way and I don't have to give it a second thought.0 -
I just got my Polar FT4 yesterday from Amazon - can't wait to use it! It was $70 with free shipping. It was simple to set up, too!0
