Weight gain related to female cycle?

Sorry if makes anyone uncomfortable....
I've only been tracking calories and watching diet for about a week and a half. The first week I lost 6 pounds steadily. The last two days we have been going to the gym and I've gained two back, BUT I'm expecting my period in about 5 days so hoping it's just water retention related to that. From what I'm reading online it should go away as soon as I start.
Anyone have experience with this? I'm getting upset watching my number go up!

I'm the same way. I was so upset watching the scale and then realized it's was because of my cycle. I gain about 2 pounds and then when I weigh myself the following week (I weigh myself each Monday) I'm down those 2 pounds and a bit more because I continue my workouts.
Don't let it get you down, it all balances itself out, just realize that when you do go up, that's what it is.

It's just water retention so don't worry. The week before my period I gain anywhere from 3-5 lbs but then it goes just as quickly as it came.0

I won't weigh myself as soon as I get PMS symptoms until it's all over. And I get symptoms from 2 weeks before I'm due (when I ovulate). You can hold water during this time and if you don't want to weigh yourself, don't. I don't need the anxiety of thinking I'm not losing!0

Just remember it's not real weight. Many people gain water weight and then when they lose it, they're lighter than before their period.
I weigh myself every day, but I expect and am OK with fluctuations, esp. PMS fluctuations. If you can't handle the scale going up without it causing you anxiety, you might do better weighing yourself once a week, and skipping the TOM week.0 -
Definitely period weight gain. My tip...when I work really hard during my period to stick to my calorie goals and not give in to the crazy cravings I usually lose the water weight plus some after it's over!0

I go through this monthly, I gain 5 pounds, period over, lose all the weight. I have just learned to deal.....0

The major loss in ur 1st week was probably water weight (if u just started this). Doesn't expect to lose that much every week. I wouldn't wanna lose that much every week. But yes, ur weight can actually be messed up right b4 ur period, all the way thru it & even a little after. No worries Don't worry so much about the scale either. Take ur measurements once a month. Losin inches is important0

stop watching scale like a hawk, will make you crazy.
yep you retain water on your cycle, natural.
rule of thumb, 3,500calories+TDEE to equal a pound of FAT, FAT, FAT0 -
This is 100% normal. At my top weight, I gained 5-10 lbs just before my period in water weight. Now, I gain 3-4 lbs.
