I'm looking for some easy at home protein bars to make but I don't like Peanut butter or nuts in general.. Any tips? Ideally i would like then to be low cal.. I can buy 12 from My Protein for about £10 just wondering if there was cheaper solution in the long run? I don't have any whey protein so tips on the best one to get would also be fab thanks

I am actually allergic to nuts so I could never use them. If you are just trying to thicken up your batter, try getting some xanthan gum (I believe most whole foods stores carry it, it's with the baking stuff). Anyways, you just add some xanthan gum (1/2-1 is plenty) and keep stirring, the more you stir, the more it thickens up.0

I just made a batch of 85 cal protein bars.
Here's what you need:
2 cups oats
1/4 cup soymilk (or regular milk, but then the cals will be higher)
1 tsp honey
a couple shakes of cinnamon
1/4 cup hot water
1 scoop protein powder (135 calories per scoop for the kind I use)
Mix the oats with the hot water and then mix everything together and flatten into a pan and stick in the fridge. It makes 6 protein bars.0 -

I just replace peanut butter with sunflower seed butter
100 grams Rolled oats
2 Tbs of flax seed
200 grams Whey protein
30 grams of coconut flakes
100 grams Sunflower seed butter
20 grams Honey
150 ml Skimmed milk
I have adapted the recipe from here:
http://kelvin-wu.blogspot.com/2011/09/home-made-protein-bars-no-bake.html
if you split this into 10 bars they are about 200 calories total 14g carbs 8g Fat and 21g of protein.
I use gold standard Vanilla Ice cream whey and the brand of sun flower seed butter I use is sunbutter.0 -
I made homemade protein bars yesterday.
Recipe for six:
5 tbsp of almond butter
1/4 cup of honey
1/4 tsp of salt
2 tbsp of whey protein isolate
1 1/2 cup of brown rice crispies
2-3 tbsp of chocolate chips
Walnuts
Mix the almond butter, honey, whey and salt together.
Then microwave it for about 30 to 60 seconds.
Pour the mixture over the rice krispies and form them into a shape.
Pour some chocolate chips and walnuts over the protein bar.
I use ChocolateCoveredKate's recipe.
