Sick with a stomach bug

Hi guys, wanting a bit of advice here. I have a stomach bug/gastro/stomach flu. For the past 4 days I've been eating very light meals, and drinking only water, in small amounts. My stomach is still as bad as it was before, and my net calories were only at about 1000 each day, which worries me a little anyway, as I don't really want to eat so little.

I've heard you should fast for 24 hours with a stomach bug, does this actually work? And how bad would that be for my weightloss/ general health, especially considering I've been netting so low recently anyway?

  • If you are vomiting it is a good idea to fast until your stomach calms down, usually 12 hours or so. As soon as you can tolerate it is good to start with the BRAT diet and advance your diet slowly. If you are having loose stools stick to the BRAT diet. After 24 hours usually it is safe to start taking something like Immodium AD to help slow it down and often stop it completely. If it has been 4 days I would take the immodium and if it does not work..CALL YOUR DOCTOR. Very important to stay hydrated during all of this so be sure to drink plenty of water or drinks with electrolytes,

I had that for almost a week & it was awful, so I feel for you...if you don't feel better soon then call your doc. The only thing that I could keep down was regular 7up & I drank it with baby sips & almost flat & at room temperature. I didn't keep track of any calories that week. I wouldn't worry about tracking until you are feeling better. I hope you feel better soon. :flowerforyou:
