desperate to lose weight...need help....

I am a 45 year old mom with 2 teenage children. I am 172 cms tall and weigh 108 kg. I have a sedantary 9 hour job. I walk for about 40 minutes every day and exercise (either weights or elliptical trainer) about 3 days a week.

As per MFP, I need to eat 1200 calories per day. I burn about 400 calories on an average every day. In the last 2 weeks I have been just around the 1600-1700 calories as far as eating is concerned. My daily diet is normally high in rice content. I am non vegeterian.

I am desperate to lose atleast 20 kgs (about 45 lbs I think).

Suggestions welcome in terms of exercise and what I should eat to be energetic and within my calorie threshold.

  • I have been on a diet for 3 weks and lost 18 pounds and have never felt better. here is my diet plan
    Eliminate high fructose corn syrup, msg, dextrose, maltodextrin, white flour, processed sugar, aspertame, soda pop,
    candy (except 75% or higher cocoa content chocolate), pork, salt(I use sea salt), any ingredients I can't pronounce, and eating out.
    Then I added these item to my diet: Oatmeal, honey, lots of water, raw fruits and vegetables, and real garlic. Raw vegetables are best, steamed are ok, and cooked are the worst. I still eat meat but no ketchup or barbeque sauce because they contain those ingredients I listed above.
    I never skip breakfast, I eat 4 to 5 times a day(actually more food than I used to) and I do not excercise.
    i have more energy now and am not tired all the time. diets are great if you do them but i have found out if you only do 90% of the diet you dont' get 90% of the results, you only get 10% of the results.     Also are you sure it says 1200 cals?
    I keep seeing that but a lot of people have that bit wrong.
    Check your BMR in the tools
    and your TDEE in your goals page.
    Your goal should be between these two figures
