should i feel bad that i binged on mothers day. i was doing so well with my diet in the last couple weeks. i even lost a few pounds. i've been on a roll. been so proud of myself. and yesterday was mothers day, and i just caved and ate more than i should have. had some sweets and chips and didn't count my calories. now i feel frustrated. did i just un do all the work i've done this past couple weeks? or won't one day really ruin all my progress?

Don't feel bad. If you beat yourself up about this, you will give up. Just move on and keep doing all the good work! Don't let one day derail you progress. Actually, it may even help your loss! Happy Mother's Day!0

No. Unless you ate 3500 calories above your TDEE you aren't going to gain anything.
If the scale goes up at all, you can chalk it up to water retention. Just get back on track and you'll be just fine.0 -
You need to get out of the "diet" mentality. That's going to make you feel bad every time you eat a tiny thing that "wasn't on your plan."
This is your life - and hopefully as you move along become a lifestyle change you like.
But diets don't work.
They're just some crazy plan someone tried and then everyone else wanted to do.0 -
"Should" you feel bad?
Why are you asking any of us what you "should" feel?
The question is, DO you feel bad? If so, why? If not, why not?
Going over your cals once in a while is actually good for the metabolism. You're not a bad person because you ate a lot one day, any more than staying under your cals every day makes you a good person. It's not an ethical matter. Enjoy the day, and get back on the horse to keep moving toward your goals. Period.0 -
I ate a big calorie filled Mothers Day breakfast from McDonalds but DID log my calories. Turned out at the end of the day I was still UNDER my calorie goal. It may not have been as bad as you thought and even if it was it is no reason to get discouraged. That one day can only ruin your progress if you let it cause you to give up. Don't feel guilty just aim to do better and track everything, even on the bad days!0

As someone said this is life not a diet. Sure I went over by about 800 calories but hey today is a new day and if you can't cut loose every once in a while, what is the point?0

No, you should not feel bad. Just remember, eating right, losing weight, getting active, is a life long change. We are all going to have days where we do go, and days we don't do as well. The key thing is to not let one day of not great choices lead into several days.
You are doing the right thing, pick yourself up, and get back on your plan.
You can do this, things are going to derail us from time to time.0 -
