Hello I am 23 year old mother of two young children ages 2 and 1. Before I got pregnant I weighed 130 lbs. I gained up to 185 with my 1st child never lost any weight when I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd. Only gained up to 195 with my 2nd. Lost down to 175 after he was born. My husband lost his job and I began to stress out and gained up to my current weigh 197. Today I went dress shopping to find a dress because I am going to be in a wedding in April. I went to pick out dresses not knowing what size I am in. I grabbed a 14/16 and headed to try it on and when I couldn't get the zipper to go up was the straw for me. I found this site and I am hoping to find support to help me lose back down to at least 150 by April. If anyone has any tips and advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey misses! don't worry you'll do it! just take it a little at a time!
I was freaking out at the start because i use to find it hard to lose weight!
But everyone here is so positive and helpful it really helps!
I myself have started eating snacks like weight watchers snacks when i get peckish and there's such a huge difference in calories than say a mars bar! most weight watchers snacks are 90 calories but a mars bar would be like 200 or so its crazy!! i also started using weight watchers bread instead of other bread. and slim line milk instead of full fat milk.. Also the obvious cutting down on portions of what your eating will help, and then going for a walk everyday for about 20 mins, or even sometimes you could bring your children swimming with you too! you'll find it more enjoyable that way and its really good for you! ive been sticking to that stuff the last while and have lost 5 lbs! so it doesnt have to be as hard as some people make it out to lose the weight.. ill support you all the way

Hello and welcome! First let me say that you have come to the right place. This place is about a change of lifestyle - and if you follow this common sense plan you will lose weight and become more fit!! If I can do it at age 49, you can do it! I know you can!
The very best advice that I can give you is to read the posts that are 'stickied' at the top of this page:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/9-general-diet-and-weight-loss-help
They contain invaluable advice that has helped me not only to stick with the program, but succeed at it. You don't have to read them all at once, because there are quite a few, but do begin to read them from time to time.
Probably the most important post in that group is this:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/9433-expectations
I was at a point where I was very discouraged and going to quit, but thankfully I found this post and it made it clear to me that what I was going through was not only normal, but to be expected.
Here is something else to consider: With the changes that you will make, you will not only be changing things positively for yourself but also for your children! You will be starting them out on the right food nutritionally and physically!!! What a wonderful legacy for your kids!!!
Bless you and you'll find the support you need here!0 -

Welcome! This site is wonderful. It will really help you to lose the weight. I was stuck at the same weight for a few months and then by coming here I lost about 7 pounds in a month. The best thing I've found is to take it ine step at a time and give yourself room for mistakes. I know I used to do really good on my plan for a while, then I would give in to some kind of food temptation and say I'd start over another day, but now I know I can still have a little of what I want, but then get right back on track after. And if I overeat I try to work out a little harder the next day. Just never beat yourself up!
Anyway, like I said this site is great and you will lose the weight by sticking to MFP! Good luck!0 -
