hi everyone i have just put a fitness program on my mobile phone called sports tracker and it seems really good,it uses a gps signal and it tracks where you run walk or cycle then you can upload to your pc,other good features tell you how fast your travelling how far you have gone average speed and loads more,

anyway today i thought i would try it so put my stats in like weight height age sex that sort of stuff and of i went according to the stats i had ran 4 miles(which was true) in 36 mins, avg speed 10 mins per mile and burnt 1020 cals could that be true?

that would be awesome but does seem a little high. I think the "rule of thumb" is 100 calories burned per mile but does differ based on weight.

I agree, that seems a bit high. I did 4 miles friday and burned 510 calories. Granted we are two different people, but still, that seems a bit high.

It's true if you weigh 375 pounds--otherwise, no.

I did not see your post with your weight--see my other comment for more details.

It's true you can be doing 1020 calories PER HOUR, based on your reported running speed and weight, but not in 36 minutes.

At your weight, running a 10 min mile (6.0 mph) works out to about 1,075 calories per hour, or about 645 for 4 miles.
  • yes thought it was wrong but still happy if its around 600
