So my husband is in the military and he's been gone for the past 4 months! He finally comes back tomorrow and i'm making him his favorite for dinner so yes this will be my first "free day" to indulge since he's left. Now im contemplating making him his favorite dessert (which is pumpkin pie), but i don't know if i should make it since im already making an indulgent meal and i know i will want a piece if i make it. He is actually going to join me on my "healthier lifestyle" , so should i make him his fave dessert, since i wont be making any desserts any time soon? sorry for the rant lol, so what do you guys think?

Go for it. Enjoy your time with him. Get back on track the day after.0
-
do it .. you both deserve it .0

You can celebrate with pie when you get your husband home after 4 months! You have my permission.0
-
I say go for it! You haven't seen him in months so it's a celebration! If you feel you need to, then do some extra exercise during the day so you don't go too far over.0

P.S. just found this recipe for lower calorie pumpkin pie! http://lowcaloriecooking.about.com/od/desserts/r/pumpkinpie.htm0

Are you kidding me???? (said with a huge smile) ......celebrate with pie, kisses, hugs, more pie.....enjoy every minute of each other!!!!! (thank him for his service from all of us on MFP)!!! :0)0

I'm thinking his favorite dessert will NOT be pumpkin pie. ;-)0

im pretty sure you are supposed to be dessert and that sex should be your biggest priority at this point. I mean, just make him a ridiculously awesome american sandwich afterwards0

YES YES YES!!
This is an occassion of celebration hun!!! Enjoy dinner, dessert and your hubby.0 -
Just make a new healthier dessert. You don't need food to celebrate every moment in life.0

Do it or the terrorists have won! j/k. Yes, definitely do it. You both have been through hell and back with him being overseas. You deserve to celebrate in style. And thank you for your husband's service!0

Let the healthier lifestyle start tomorrow. It's not everyday that someone comes back from a 4 month military deployment.
And get a couple gallons of gatorade to address that thirst issue that comes from being away for 4 months.0 -
Make it.
You're going to burn it off later anyway
Plus, one 500 calorie desert isn't going to derail your progress.0 -
Absolutely, go for it, you both deserve it.0

I agree with everyone else! Make it , enjoy it and have fun!!!0

Make the pie! You only live once. Enjoy yourself and celebrate the occasion!0

This ^^^^^
Having served in the Army myself, I can assure you "pie" was on the menu, but not necessarily pumpkin!
I'm betting you two can think of a couple things to burn off the extra calories!! Go for it!!0 -

Is your guy worth a few calories you can burn off in a few days? "Of course!" you shout with a smile. Indulge and then get back to work.
Thank him for the sevice to his nation and all of us and our thanks to you for being there for him and keeping the business of your lives going during his deployment.0
