I Completely Ruined My Diet

I went around 3 weeks with doing incredibly well on my diet, and I have insulin resistance which basically means I have to cut out as many carbs as possible from my diet like breads and pastas. When I done that, I had terrible cravings for a couple of days, but then they went away. My diet along with excersize every day began to make me feel incredible, confident, happy, and energetic... But then...
About a week ago, my husband was in danger of getting fired from his job (he works at walmart and a customer claimed he cussed under his breath) and they told him they would make a decision by Sunday night if he was fired or not... I completely fell of the wagon. I threw away my diet and excercise and submersed myself in worry and comfort food...I gained back all of the weight I had lost and I am starting to feel sick and exchausted all the time again...
This keeps happening every time I diet and I'm just lost for words and my emotion is running rampant... Because i have insulin resitance when I eat the things I shouldn't eat, it sends parts of my body into overdrive and causes a lot of severe problems like sickness and mood swings. Ultimitely it is also causing cysts on my ovaries. If I don't get it under control, I will become unable to have children, and just continue to rapidly gain weight... My husband is at work right now and I'm nearly in tears with feelings of being out of control...

Don't call this a diet.
It is a lifestyle.
So you fell off the wagon... everyone does (look at my log yesterday, it was TERRIBLE! But today I'm under again and jumped back on)
Just keep going, don't give up, if you fall get back up, you have this.0 -

What she said! This is your life. Take it one day at a time - being over your calorie limit one or two days won't kill you. Giving up on yourself could. Good luck to your husband - I hope he still has his job.0 -
You haven't completely ruined anything, unless you choose that path right now.
You have two choices:
1. To tell yourself: "I've ruined everything, there is no point in even trying, I'll never be able to lose weight, this just proves it"
or
2. To tell yourself: "that was a crappy of couple of days, I'm going to do better today."
It's your choice.
I've decided that the only thing that actually work is to keep going - it doesn't matter what "diet" you follow, you just need to find a way of eating that suits your body and your lifestyle and keep doing it. As long as there are more good days than bad days, you'll see results over time.0 -
yep we just found out he lost his job0

I'm so sorry. I really hope things get better for you soon. Remember to take care of yourself.0 -
It might be a good idea to consult with a nutritionist and have them set up a plan for you if you're at risk of becoming infertile.0

Forget yesterday. Today is a new day. When you stumble and fall to the ground, we don't just lie there and say "I fell down" and do nothing about it... We get up and go again. Such it is with this... Just pick yourself up. Remember how you felt when you had done well... It is not over... You can do this... Just start now and move forward. Perhaps one day, you can overcome the insulin resistance by achieving your goal weight. You can do this. Just start now... Move beyond t... The difference between a hiccup and a failure is that with the hiccup, you get over it quickly and move forward...0 -
So sorry about his job. But you also need to think about how any stress eating or comfort food eating is going to impact your stress levels. You will feel more stressed and more out of control if you give in to the eating.
Staying in control of your eating will help lessen that stress!!! It's not easy but it will be worse if you keep up the self destructive ways of eating.
And I agree with the others....you had a few bad days, no biggie. Just start over and keep going!!! You are strong and you are worth the effort!!!0 -

I hate that but he will get another one... It is not the end of the world... (I am not making light of your situation by any stretch of the imagination)... Compromizing your health will not make the other situation get better. It is important that you turn your health situation around.... For one thing, it will give you a positive situation to focus upon while trying to deal with the other. May your husband quickly find an even better job quickly.0 -
Once you stop seeing as a diet you will be able to succeed... it is a necessary life change in your case - you have said yourself how good you feel health wise when you are taking care of yourself - eating healthy is not a diet, exercise is not necessarily about losing weight.
By giving in to unhealthy eating and by not exercising you are making a conscious choice of giving up on yourself. I am sorry that you are going thru a hard time - there is a saying "no door closes without a better one opening" hold on to that. don't become a victim of your situation.
I wish you the best of luck and as for your husband, he will find something better.0 -
I am so sorry that you are having such a difficult time. My life has had its share of difficulties. I understand that it feels like everything is falling apart, but know that things can always get better. I just recently decided that this was going to be my time and I was going to take back what I had let get away from me-- everything! That voice in your head telling you that you've failed can only keep you on the ground if you let it. Personally, I keep this quote in my head--"If you're tired of starting over, stop giving up!"
You can do this, you're strong.0
