Is this some kind of spinoff of the Toby McGuire Spiderman? Is the Toby McGuire Spiderman franchise over? I will say that the girl in the amazing spiderman previews is hotter than Kirsten Dunst...for what its worth.

Really? I'm supposed to know the difference between Spiderman and the amazing Spiderman?....to the point that I live under a rock because I dont? I can understand you saying that if I asked what the difference is between a motorcycle and a car, or if Obama ended up becoming president. You seem to know soo much about comic books, did you know that The Avengers was going to make 1 billion dollars at the box office in less than 10 days? I sure didnt, buts its probably because I live under a rock.0

Hey you! Did you hear, we landed on the moon!?! :happy:0 -
It's not a prequel, it's a "reboot," ie a new cast, a new director, totally unrelated to the first three movies.
Essentially what happened is that Disney bought the rights to Marvel comics in 2010, and then Disney licensed Columbia to make a new movie (there's a rumor that it's so they can eventually bring Spiderman into the Avengers, which I think is stupid, because he joined the Avengers in what, 2011?).
So yeah, it's kind of confusing. But this movie is like the 2nd Hulk movie - it's going to completely ignore all previous movies. And don't blame the OP for not heaing about it. There's been little to no advertising (biggest trailer so far was the one before the Avengers, which, considering the movie is coming out this summer, isn't much). Heck there was more publicity for the Broadway musical than there was for this movie. So OP doesn't live under a rock.0 -

I really really dislike reboots.
Side note* Isn't that what they are doing with Men In Black too?0 -

Nope Men in Black is a prequel. It still has Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones - there's just time-travel involved so there's actors playing young versions of the agents too.
And generally I am not a fan of reboots either, but then I look at the Christopher Nolan Batman series compared to the 80's/90's version- while the 80's/90's version was awesome in it's own right, the new trilogy is just fantastic. But it's rare for a reboot to be that good.0 -
Gotcha. Well, it seems a buddy of mine tells me something new is being rebooted every couple of days or so, and I usually let it go in one ear and out the other.
About batman, yeah I try to have respect for originals, but the original batman movies were pretty......lame, to be blunt.0 -

The problem with movies these days is that if it makes 150-200 million dollars at the box office, they just start churning out sequels just to line thier pockets. Like those stupid Twilight movies, they know each one is going to make 6-700 million dollars yet they only put 40-60 million dollars into the film. *kitten* like that bugs me, and I havent even watched any of the twilight movies.0 -
I just saw the trailer for that the first time today. I think Hollywood has lost its imagination. All that comes out lately is remakes. I can maybe see remaking a pretty old movie where modern special effects and whatnot would make it interesting, but remaking movies like "True Grit" and "Karate Kid" which are pretty much identical to the originals doesn't make much sense. And then there are these superhero reboot movies where all they really seem to try to do is tell the same story while making the hero seem darker and grittier.0

Spiderman: If you think a reboot to the movies is bad.. imagine how complicated the comics have gotten. There's at least 5 different spidermans that I can think of.. and I'm not following superhero comics that much! They put "amazing" or something infront of a name and poof its a whole new one.. yet still the same one. Would maybe have been less confusing if they had gone with the newest spidey for the movies.. but that would probably unleash a big ****storm (like it did when they introduced him):
Twilight: ...those are from books. Though you could argue that the additional book were a result of them selling so well. It's kinda lame when they start producing movies from a serie and then don't finish it so I can't blame them for finishing the Twilight series... but ugh.. btw a way to enjoy them is to think its actually one of those "make fun of the genre" movies. The first was hillarious... untill I realised they were being serious.
Spiderman has a long on-and-off history with the avengers. Much longer than 2011 afaik. All of Marvel's heroes are in the same world... so just wait untill they have "Xmen meet the avengers" movie! Would love to see it spin out in the way many meetings between the two end up: on oposite sides. Big fighting scene that.. and you wont know which one to root for
ohoh.. or if they ever let Deadpool and Punisher get involved in a movie with others (in more than a "final bad guy" kinda way as in the wolverine movie). That would be soooooo fun.
Men in Black: I actually look forward to it. In a sense that I hope its soo bad that its gooooood and funny.0 -
Wait, is it in 3D?
No.....they are re-booting silent films with this0 -

Well first of all if was a joke... you're a bit touchy. Maybe I just follow movies more than a typical person but I've known about this reboot for years because it got announced around the same time they discontinued the Toby Maguire films. And the chick that is hotter than Kirsten Dunst is Emma Stone... and has also been around for years.
And it was pretty fair to assume Avengers was going to be a blockbuster.
So sorry I offended you0 -

The Coen brothers remake of True Grit... while it shares a lot of the same dialogue... is very different from the original.. especially in the sense that it is a Coen brothers movie0 -
Yeah Joss Whedon is the man... Avengers was gonna be bigger than most people thought....and it was.0
