Anybody doing Turbo Jam? I just started it today, and was only able to do the Learn & Burn. Is there any particular section you like best?

Were you struggling with it? Learn and Burn is a great place to start, just keep doing it and learn the moves. I love all of Turbo, I'm not even sure which parts I like best! Let me know if you need any help!

I wouldn't say struggle. I had to slow down some of the moves in order to get them right, but I was able to keep up with the majority of moves and pace. Those 25 minutes did work me out heavily though. My thighs are slightly sore. I've decided to do Learn and Burn only for 1 week, so I can get completely comfortable with the moves and pace then move onto a new section.

I'll let you know when I need help. I'll probably need some motivation since I'm combining it with my existing routine of cardio and strength training :)

Turbo Jam has been my go-to workout for years. I've lost weight with it time and time again (and gained back because I love fried food and beer....different story). It really gets my heart rate up without me feeling like I'm dying. Once you get the moves down, you'll be fine. The hardest for me was the tuck position. It look awhile to get to where I wasn't killing my back and doing it properly. Also, I did TJ on carpet for years and had to modify many moves for my knees. I just thought that was the way it had to be but we recently moved and have tile floors - I can pivot like nobody's business!

    Good luck to you!

I'm doing TurboFire right now but I LOVE turbo jam! Its actually way more fun that Turbo Fire, in my opinion. TurboFIre is so much faster... hard to be fun
  • I just started Turbo Jam today too. I think I'm with you, gonna do just Learn and Burn for a week. I found that I had a hard time keeping up at times, but that's probably me being hugely out of shape. I've heard (and this makes sense) that the more important thing in the beginning is just keeping moving and doing your best. Good luck to both of us!

I love Turbo Jam! My favorites on the 5 Rockin' Workouts DVD are the 20-minute workout and Turbo Sculpt. My other faves which are on separate DVDs are: Cardio Party Remix (Turbo Jam Live), Booty Sculpt (another Turbo Jam Live), and Cardio Party 2. I also have the Turbo Fire Starter set (low impact) and I prefer the HITTs that came with it to Turbo Jam Fat Blaster. I'd say keep on with Learn and Burn and then move to the 20-minute. The great thing about Turbo Jam is it's so much fun that's there's absolutely no dread factor.

I felt comfortable with the learn and burn, so yesterday I tried the 20 minute workout, and struggled. I wasn't expecting all those new moves, and they don't give you much time to actually get it right before moving on. Today I'm not looking forward to this! My spirits are low :(

Don't get discouraged!! It was hard when I first started too, but after I did the schedule of workouts, I was able to look back and see how far I'd come! I don't do it anymore, because I just finished training for a half marathon, but I'm always open to going back to it. I love love love the workouts!! My faves are the 20 min workout, Turbo Sculpt, Ab Jam, Cardio Party 2, Punch Kick and Jam, 3T (which I take with me when I travel), and Lower Body Jam. I love them!! And Chalene is pretty awesome too. Stick with it!!!

It's been several years since I was a TJ newbie but today, the Hubs tried it for the first time. It was....interesting to say the least. I don't remember what it was like to learn from scratch, but he made it quite clear that it's TOUGH in the beginning! We did Learn and Burn together, then he called it quits so I snuck in the 20 min workout. The speed definitely makes it hard. Once you get down the way Chalene does things, it'll become second nature.

Please don't get discouraged! Maybe commit to doing the Burn section for a week and then reevaluating where you are at?

I've never done TurboJam, but I'd like to start. If there aren't any challenges/TJ groups going right now, anyone want to join me on Monday (5/21)? Seems that most of you have been doing Learn & Burn already, but I'm starting tonight to get used to it. Hopefully I'm not too far behind!

Don't get discouraged, think of it as part of the fun. Even Chalene will tell you, it's not fun if you master it the first time. As you master it, you get to really up the intensity. I did Turbojam and moved onto Turbofire. It's a great workout. I hope you stick with it!

I bought TJ earlier this month and I have been doing it for the past two weeks. I love it! Stick with it .. it will grow on you and you *might* find yourself addicted like I did!

Do not be discouraged if you don't get it at first. it took me a few times to get each workout down, but now I can do them in my sleep. At first, I had to really concentrate and if one of my cats ran in the room or someone tried to talk to me, I would immediately mess up. Now, I can do the workouts with the cats weaving around my legs while having a full blown conversation with someone else. :) You have to be patient. And as Chalene say, mistakes burn calories too.

Today was my day 1, and I definitely had trouble keeping up. Trying not to be discouraged, but you're definitely on to something. I think I'll do Learn & Burn for a week as well

    Good luck, everyone!

I do Turbo Jam "Cardio Party" (#1) all the time! I love that workout. You'll get the hang of it in no time, I promise. Chalene does need to work on her cues, but as she says, it's no big deal if you make a mistake - at least you're moving!
  • I just did Cardio Party for the first time today (in week 2 of TJ) and oh my GOD it kicked my *kitten*! I actually couldn't finish it, I felt like I was going to collapse. But I did all of it but the cool down segment, so I guess it's forgivable..

I have turbojam and turbofire. I know the moves are a little tricky but keep at it you will get it really quickly. I am 54 and I can do them. Turbofire is faster and more intense. I have had GREAT results with both. I find that with either workout within two weeks you will see a pretty nice difference. So keep it up.

Well I'm addicted now! I've been keeping up with TJ, and added in 30 DS. Adding in 30DS made me realize how much fun I was aactually having with TJ. My hubby found a different one, so I'm super excited to add it in. Today will be Cardio Party, and Turbo Sculpting!
