Burgers? No grill....Need ideas!
I have a load of burgers in my freezer but looking for alternative ways to cook them! I have about 20 fresh-from-the-butcher beef patties, some turkey burgers and even some black bean burgers (will probably end up eating as usual) but no grill. I don't have any interest at this time in buying a charcoal grill as I'm wanting to save up for a gas grill.
Any suggestion on how I could cook all this meat without the grill. Or ways I can use it other than burgers??

Wow, sounds delish, it's giving me ideas for dinner, haha!! You can cook them in the frying pan with some PAM spray, still taste great minus the extra fat from oil !! Good Luck0

Cast iron pan0

You can always use them like ground beef. Just mash them up and add them to pasta, rice dishes, Shepard's Pie, oven bakes, lasagna, whatever you please.0
-
Pan "fry", electric griddle/skillet or broil. If I can't grill, I broil in the oven on the broiler pan.0

use for tacos, or stuffed peppers too!0

Cast iron pan
I do this all the time, they taste awesome. Make no mistake, the fat doesn't drip into the fire and burn away, but more juice is more flavor :P0 -
Broil em. You can make hamburger steak out of them as well.0

Cast iron pan
The greatest tool in the kitchen!0 -
I have pan fried but a: they take FOREVER and b: basically boil in their own grease and curl up on the sides.
What about in the oven? Broiling?0 -
OR make an egg hash type thing, minus thr hash browns.
Eggs, Meat, Veggies all mixed together. YUM!
I must be hungry!0 -
I love my george forman grill for these type of things!0

Blow Torch. Hey....it could work :flowerforyou:0

Cast iron pan
Yep, this ^^ is what I'd do. I actually prefer burgers cooked this way to on the grill.0 -
Just sear each side then bake in the oven. Burgers do fine just cooking in their own juices.0

I have a George foreman grill (plugs in on the counter) I use it when we run out of Propane for our gas grill. Works great. I prefer that than pan frying food.0

get some wood and go to a local park and use one of the fire pits that they already have (Where I live there is a river with lots of fire pits and picnic tables makes fora great night out and you can also take some sport stuff out and play games like soccer!0

Don't know what kind of budget you're on. But if you're willing to spend a LITTLE money ($30-$40 or so) you could get either a hibachi or an inexpensive kettle grill. Or if you're looking for something for indoor cooking, I think the George Foreman grills start around the same price.0

"boile 'em, broil 'em, stick 'em in a stew...."
Okay, maybe don't boil them, but the other two ideas would probably work just fine as long as you have an oven and/or a crock pot.0 -
Charcoal is better than Gas....IMO. That being said, bake em. Or, fry them up and add to chili0

Charcoal is better than gas.. flavor is better... BUT when your hubby is like a little kid over getting a new stainless steel gas grill.. who can say no?0

Steam em-- if you can find a way-- tried steamed burgers at a diner... yum. But- these were steamed in way that kept the fat and juices in-- which may be difficult at home due to lack of a commercial steamer letting you steam them in fitted pan (and, you probably lack a fitted pan, lol).... I may try it at home and see if I can find a way to make it work.
Skinner: Superintendent, I hope you're ready for mouth-watering hamburgers.
Chalmers: I thought we were having steamed clams.
Skinner: Oh, no, I said, "steamed hams." That's what I call hamburgers.
Chalmers: You call hamburgers steamed hams.
Skinner: Yes, it's a regional dialect.
Chalmers: Uh-huh. What region?
Skinner: Uh, upstate New York.
Chalmers: Really. Well, I'm from Utica and I never heard anyone use the phrase, "steamed hams."
Skinner: Oh, not in Utica, no; it's an Albany expression.
Chalmers: I see.
Chalmers: You know, these hamburgers are quite similar to the ones the have at Krusty Burger.
Skinner: [laughs] Oh, no, patented Skinner Burgers. Old family recipe.
Chalmers: For steamed hams.
Skinner: Yes.
Chalmers: Yes, and you call them steamed hams despite the fact that they are obviously grilled. [shows Skinner the grill marks]
Skinner: Uh ... you know ... one thing I sh-- ... 'scuse me for one second.
Chalmers: Of course.

We don't have a grill either. I just put them in a skillet, cover them and cook about 5 minutes, flip them and then cook another 5 or so minutes.0

Charcoal is better than Gas....IMO.
I actually have a HUGE charcoal grill with a smoker on the side. I just effing HATE the pain of dealing with charcoal, the mess, the fact you constantly have to buy charcoal and fluid. Besides, there is no metal grate in my grill. I think the previous guy used it to patch his fence. :laugh:0 -
One of my favorite things my Mom used to make growing up was throw the burgers in a skillet, cut up some onions, can of beef brother, then fill the can with water and toss that in. A little garlic, a little pepper, about 1/2 hr to cook. Have vegetables with it. It's really quite yummy. Of course you don't use the liquid as gravy as that isn't very healthy.0

You could chop some of them up and make some chili!0
