New to this...

Hey guys!
I've had MFP for ages but just getting into....
Anyone got any good tips for keeping to calorie counts, healthy replacements for foods etc?

Also, anyone in the Wellington, NZ area who wants a new friend?

Thanks

  • From California. However, for lunch, I've recently replaced my sandwiches with 1/2 cup of pinto beans, 12 olives sliced in half, and 4 tablespoons of salsa (243 Calories and very filling).

    Hey Phoebe! Welcome to MFP.

I used to live in Wellington (was there for 12 years!) before I moved to Africa. Yay for fellow Kiwis =).

Well, there are HEAPS of things you can do when you are starting out:
    - Replace full fat milk with fat free or Low fat
    - Replace white bread with wholegrain bread
    - Take out/limit all fatty meats: Bacon, pork, ham, full fat beef etc.. Stick to lean meats like chicken breast, tuna, lean mince/lean beef & fish
    - Obviously; Cut out/limit fatty and sugary foods like sweets, chocolates, coke, sprite etc.

The easiest way to start is just to limit your intake of sugary, fizzy, and fatty foods (junk foods!) and to include 30 minute workouts 3-4 a times a week. This can be anything from walks, playing with kids, etc.

Hope you enjoy! And again, welcome! =)
