running the bolder boulder - (annual 10k road race in Boulder, Colorado. With over 54,000 racers, it is the largest race in the US in which all participants are timed and the fifth largest road race in the world.) it's super fun - tons of bands playing along the way, bbqs going on, tons of ppl in the crowd.

I was thinking of wearing a tutu, ruffled panties and a pair of my roller derby socks.

What do you think of runners who dress up? stupid or silly?

I think you should be yourself. If dressing up will make you happy...DO IT! :)
Have fun with it, and good luck!!

*Edited to put an "s" on should. :P

I think you sound like a ton of fun to run with!

BTW, I run in an angry birds shirt.

Go for it, as long as you are comfy. Me personally, I'm pissed you have to wear clothing now for the Bay to Breakers in San Francisco. Come on, if you can't run naked through San Francisco, where can you run naked?

I ran the St. Pat's Dash in a tutu and thigh high striped stockings. I rocked it.

Of course it's silly. That's the point. It's silly and awesome. My only caveat is not to wear something that chafes.

It's an event, if you can do it dressed up and not feel silly, then do it.

I remember when I ran in one of the Gasparilla 5k runs, there was a guy juggling the entire way. That was probably 17 years ago, and I still remember it.

I think your attire would be perfect. Some run it seriously some run it for fun. Do it and send pictures.

I think it's freaking awesome! Although the socks might drive me crazy....just in case they started to fall...

i've skated my *kitten* off for ~hours~ in many of my socks, so i definately would wear a pair that i'm used to!

    Go for it, have fun.

I have a special shirt I would like to wear to races but I think it would be offensive at some of the fund raiser ones.
The shirt says "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."

I love an excuse to dress up! For a teen event I was helping to lead, I painted myself gold, wore yellow shorts and tank top, added fairy wings. It was great!

For races such as the bolder boulder for other fun races (bay to breakers in sf) dressing up is a must. I am hoping to come up with something creative when I run the bay to breakers next year in san francisco. Though I am thinking of wearing my smile birthday suit and a smile!!!

My friend I'm running with and I were thinking about running as Edina and Patsy from Ab Fab but weren't sure the smoking and gin and tonics would go over well:smile: ....we're still undecided. I didn't see too many people dressed up last year, but I say go for it if you want to do it!

Always love it. Well, except for the Flying Pig Marathon this year. One guy was dressed up with pig ears, a squiggly tail and little wings. Amusing the first time he passed a group of spectators and yelled "Oink!" at maximum volume. But since we were running at about the same pace, I wanted to stuff the ears down his throat after eight or nine miles of it. We finally fell out of pace, and I had sweet silence from that point on.
I was thinking of wearing a tutu, ruffled panties and a pair of my roller derby socks.
    Love it.

I won't dress up this year for my races since theyre my first ones ever but next year, I so will.

Wear a tiara with the tutu, you can get a cheap one at Claires lol

Costumes are always welcome at road races, likely quite a few people will have something crazy on.

My favorite road races are Halloween dress up 5 or 10Ks. I'll be running the 50,000+ strong Race for the Cure in Columbus on Saturday in a pink wig :)
