MEN - near visible ABS to ripped ABS...

To all the blokes, I would like to discuss through vanity and selfishness the transition process and expectation in timescales to change from your average barely visible abs pic

( you know, the sides are just shadowing....the middle line is just about from top to belly button area...)

to abs which bulge from the skin area, have both horizontal and vertical lines.

i have four weeks left to a holiday at it is a body image holiday ...i have lost weight, i have abs ... but i want to know the timescale, work required and any other tips to go from "i can see them" to "wow, your ripped.."

please advise

  • Of course diet is a big part of it but it sounds like you are already doing something since you are on the right track and can see your abs!

One program I have read tons of success on is RevAbs. It is designed to be a 90 day program that works more than just your abs and doesn't focus on the traditional crunches to get results. I have not done this program myself yet but it is on my list as one of my next ones I plan to try out.

If you need any more info, please send a message and I can answer any questions you might have.

long way;Lower your body fat significantly for like three months while maintaing abdominal muscle so that the skin stretches to this new shape and then up your body fat while gaining muscle and voila.

As a quick fix just lower your body fat to give the illusion.

It's a matter of lowering your body fat more. For some it's what they eat, for some it's just reducing a little more weight, for some they never really show. Even many competitive body builders have "smooth" abs and their BF levels can get down to 5%.
How your muscle "pops" has a little to do with it too.

I "know" this is correct information - but still makes me cry a little............. hoping I get to see some abs when I lower body fat more..... but when you say "many competitive BB at 5%"...sigh

Long way to go to get the BF% to single digits, but still excited to see the outcome or all my hard work!

It really depends on your body and how much it clings to abdominal fat. The majority of what will get them popping is diet. I've had rather ripped abs at about 16% bf. At 20% I have decent visible abs. So, with maintaining around 102# of lean mass that is a difference of about 6 pounds of body fat. I can attain that in about a month. It's about knowing your body and how it responds to certain changes in diet and exercise.
  • thanks all - im at 11.6% since the last post and dropping body fat as much as possible :)
