So my very best friend in the whole world lives in Ontario. I live in Nova Scotia. We talk most every day, and have seen each other through major life events.

Twice a week I allow myself chocolate. Sundays and Wednesdays. I allow it, i count the calories, and I enjoy it.

So she and I were at the drug store the on Sunday evening to get formula for her son, and I was staying in the car while she went in, so we wouldn't have to get the baby in and out (it was chilly). So I went into my wallet, got out money, and gave it to her, and asked her to pick me up a specific type of chocolate.

The look on her face was utter disgust.

Her: Chocolate?
Me: Yup
Her: Why?
Me: it's Sunday, and i always have chocolate on Saundays.
Her: Seriously? Why?
Me: Because I do.
Her: You don't actually need it though.

Anyway, whe went in, and came out and gave me back my money.

Me: Why?
Her: Because.

No chocolate. I dropped her off where she was going and went back and got my damn chocolate.

Then the next day:

Oh - here's half of the chocolate bar that you wanted.
Me: no thank you
Her: Why?
Me: It's not Sunday, I only eat it on specific days.
Her: Oh. Well, that's the last time i get you a $6 chocolate
Me: 6 dollars?!?!?! I asked for a 2 dollar bar, and went and got it myself.
her: Oh. Nevermind. I'll eat it.

Is it just me? I was so annoyed! Not mortified, although I felt like I should have been.

A little annoying. Most people associate a weight loss plan with a diet, and that means complete and utter deprivation. She probably saw it as you backsliding.

:flowerforyou: yes it sounds like your sisters she knows your on a diet and its to much cho that got you in a fix you should have told it keeps you from cheating.it is a good idea really a good idea for cho lovers
  • Don't take it to heart. She obviously cares about you enough to think she is helping you.
She doesn't understand your eating plan.

Maybe next time someone questions your "diet", respond with: "That is the beauty of this plan I am on. As long as I track/journal every calorie that goes in my mouth, and I stay within the given parameters of the plan, I can endulge myself a little".

Now you are probably thinking that you don't need to explain anything to anyone. But honestly I have found that if you respond with a good attitude, people will be envious and want to get in on your plan.
Especially when they see how successful you are!

At least she isn't a friend trying to sabotage your weight loss efforts!!! :flowerforyou:

:noway: I know so many people like that. If the relationship is important to me, I just chalk it up to them not understanding what a healthy lifestyle /healthy eating is.:ohwell:
If it isn't an important relationship I try to limit my time with them.
