Is 30DS too hard for fattys?

It's hard at first for sure.....I spent the first several days watching the time on the DVD, telling myself it's only 20 minutes.....it's been five minutes I can do another minute......The other great part is you switch exercises frequently, so you know you only have to do 1-2 minutes of each exercise.......I tell myself just get through this exercise, something else is coming soon. And yes, don't think this is a 30-day-straight thing. I tried to get a bit in every day the first week, so that I did I think basically the whole thing the first day, then the second day I could only get through half-ish, then the third or fourth day I could get through the whole thing again. Some people also mentioned before to me that they found her annoying, so if you want you can always mute her and put on your favourite exercise music instead once you know the exercises.
Good luck! You'll get there....but only if you try.0 -
I love JM 30DS . at 1st it may seem that way but just push through it. If you feel that you have a little too much giggle for some of the moves buy yourself something like a wrestling singlet. Just keep everything tight and in place .
BTW Is it me or does any 1 else feel that level 1 is more intense than 2/3??
I swear Im more sore after level 1 than the other 2 levels0 -
I started 30DS when I weighed 234 lbs and hadn't worked out in 6 years (not an exaggeration). The first day, I was only able to get through half and almost threw up. I kept at it. Now I'm almost 60 lbs lighter and can do the whole thing without any modifications. I lost pretty much all the weight doing Jillian workouts and running.0

I started 30DS today, and felt like I was gonna die : I'm 200 lbs, not fit at all, stopped any sport a while back. But I loved every minute of torture it brought me. Definitely try it !0

I'm 62 and a chubbo. I do it at my own pace. I tell myself if I am not doing it as it is shown, that I'm really not doing it, but I found out thats not true, cause as long as I try to do what they are doing, I sweat more than I do if I just ride my gazelle or elliptical. Like you, I walk, etc. but when I do that 30 day, it really makes a difference. As for the jumping jacks, I dont do those. It was wrong for Jillian to say something about 400 pound people doing jumping jacks that everyone can do them. I weigh 193 and I cant because of my knees and ankles. So I flap my arms and move around in my own jumping jack. dont hurt yourself, you arent trying to prove anything to anyone. have fun!!0

I'm totally a PH-atty! I absolutely am going to buy the 30DS and pray for a miracle. I know Jillian is tough. I have her Strength Max and i'm scared to watch it....let a lone do it.. But reading all these positive messages I just feel the need for speed!! It wouldn't be the first time Jillian made me cry!  You all are awesome!!!0

It's only too hard if you refuse to try. Do what you can. Ease your way into it. Do the easier moves, do less reps, take a breather when you feel you need to. You'll get there in your own time. Forget about the "30 Day" part of it and go at your own pace. Something is better than nothing.
Totally agree!0 -
Thanks for the encouragement everyone!
I want try it today, but i dont have weights. Should i wait until i can get weights to do it? or willit work without?
You guys have given me a great deal of confidence:flowerforyou:0 -
You can't do it without weights. Fortunately the only weights you need are smaller 3-5 lb dumbbells, like what's normally used on aerobics classes.0

I say go ahead and do it without the weights until you can get some (get some ASAP though). It's still a pretty intense workout and you can get the moves down first.0 -
i ended up doing Zumba (on the Wii) for 45 minutes...killer intense! we are going to rhode island tomorrow, so hoping to start monday (with the weights).0

I did one day of the 30 day shred when I weight about 220 lbs. I barely finished it and I was sweaty and red and could not walk or move anything for days without pain, it took me a year and a half to pick it up again, this time 20 or so pounds lighter. I work out many times a week and still struggle with it, but that just shows that it's a good workout! Anyone regardless of size can do it. Like others have said, take your time, modify the moves. I still cannot do push-ups, even girly ones so sometimes I do them against a wall! I just did level 2 for the first time last night and couldn't finish every move. Stick with it and you'll see results!0

Purchased two 3lb weights...is that going to be enough?
Im thinking of starting 30DS today...wish me luck! Im trying to get the hubby to join too lol0 -
I use 3lb weights and it works great for me...at the moment (I'm on L1D5) I would be too afraid to try anything heavier. When I first started (the first time, this is round 3 or 4 for me...yikes) by husband bought me 5lb weights trying to be helpful. I had him try and use them and he only got through about 5 minutes They have been collecting dust ever since.0

hi. im on day 8 of the 30 ds. i found it soooo hard a the start, im 32 pounds overweight, and i honestly felt like i was dying, but saying that, it was only 20 mins, and 8 days later im on to level 2 and i really enjoy it. it took me a couple of trys to get into the swing of doing it every day, i got it about a month ago and did it once a week on level one to get more used to the pace. i also jog on the spot for 20 mins a day to get used to the cardio. dont let your weight stop you, once you start it gets soo much easier and its soo worth the stuggles of the first days. feel free to add me if you want support :)xxx0
