Treat meal - do you have one a week?!

Hi all,
So i follow a low carb/high protein plan. My calories are set at 1400 (i normally eat just under that...sometimes just over). i don't eat back my exercise calories as a general rule but again sometimes i do if i go over (e.g. yesterday i went over by around 270 and i burnt off 300).
Anyway...the weight is coming off fine and i'm feeling great. I have about another 1 stone (14 pounds) left to lose. The last couple of weeks i think the weight has suddenly dropped off as i have started running which i think is helping.
But i have also not had any treat meals..i used to have 1 meal out a week but these last couple of weeks i haven't. So i just wondered - do you all have a treat meal each week? e.g. go to a restaurant and have a nice 3 course meal or get a takeaway? i kinda think it wouldn't hurt me as i don't eat back my exercise calories but i'm worried it will hinder my progress.
But me and my OH love eating out and i would like to maybe have a treat once a week again.
Thanks in advance xxx

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Tonight is my daughter's girl scout end of year party at a local pizza place, so I will today. I have found that everything in moderation really works for me. Because I don't view things as good or bad or off limits, I can take it or leave it. For the most part, I leave it. Tonight I will take it! I also eat a smaller portion because I know I can have it again. I don't eat like it's the last pizza in the world.0

I don't have treat meals by choice. If I'm out of town or something, I might indulge an extra hundred or two-hundred calories, but that's it. I figured my diet will take about 24 weeks and so I'm avoiding anything that will make it take longer. That being said, I do have plans to "cheat" soon, however, I also plan to burn off that many extra calories working out on the same day to balance it.0

I eat what I want, as long as it fits in my calorie goals, so I don't think in terms of cheating/not cheating. If I know we're going to a restaurant, I'll figure out what I'm going to eat ahead of time and add it to my diary so I can build the rest of my day around it. I also plan my meals ahead or for the whole week if I can. That way I can indulge while still losing weight.
Because of my schedule, it's not reasonable for me to always cook everything at home, so I find that by planning for it, I'm more successful.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks all! i am exercising 6 days a week so i guess 1 treat a week won't hurt me!! hopefully! xxx0

hells yes I do! Every Sunday me and the family go out to dinner and I eat w/e I want. Makes it so much easier to keep things under control the rest of the week.0

Nope, not til my goal! :P0

To be honest I haven't had the real desire to go out and eat. But, if I do I will! I'm hangin out with some girlfriends this weekend so I know I will cheat a little bit. But, again it will be in moderation. I don't want my hard work this week being spoiled by one day of going out. I normally don't eat my exercise back though but I am losing.0

It's ok to have a treat day! On my treat day - I ALWAYS view the menu online BEFORE I indulge! You too can do that and enjoy... don't deprive yourself, by doing so - you will want it more.0

"Treat" means different things to different people. Does it mean you can eat something that you like but is not particularly nutritious or low calorie? Like pizza or cake? Or does "treat" mean you get to binge? Because binging sabotages weight loss, physically and mentally0

No, I enjoy all my food.0

Yep this.
See, you can still "treat" yourself with good food. Instead of snickers, have a protein bar, or a few squares of dark chocolate.
Instead of ice cream, frozen yogurt.
Instead of candy, dried fruit, etc etc.
Pizza? Make your own, it will be far better for you.
Hamburger... there are lots of lean burgers you can get at a grocery store.
If you have to eat at a restaurant you can still make good nutritious choices...at the end of the day it's your choice, but you are worth it to make the right choice.0 -
Not really. Sometimes on a Sunday we will bbq and I don't bother counting calories for the meal. I enjoy my potaoto, steak and veggies in peace without worrying aobut it.
But we don't intentionally plan a cheat meal. We don't eat fast food, we don't go out to restaurants often, and I don't like pizza so on pizza night I eat salad. Otherwise I plan dinner in advance and I plan the rest of the day around it, calorie wise. Sometimes its high calorie, sometimes its low. Depends on whats on the menu.0 -
I save treat meals for special occasions.0

Yes, I have one meal a week where I eat what I want and don't count the calories. But I only eat 1200 calories a day the rest of the week and don't work out (yet!).0
