Men Clothing Brands

What do you all wear? I'm almost 30 and have been disconnected from the acceptable clothing styles. I always wore bigger clothes to hide it all but as I'm losing weight, I'm realizing I can fit some of the sizes I couldn't before. Currently XL on most styles but XXL on Aero. (grr)
Women, chime in too. What do think is acceptable for 30 something guys (I'm 27) to wear?
AF I was told is for school age kids. Aeropostale is the same too?
Thanks!

I'm 24 and I wear american eagle jeans typically. They're comfortable and affordable.
As far as casual shirts go I typically just wear a tshirt or I'll wear a polo.
AF is definitely high school and college.0 -
AF and Aeropostale are definitely kids stuff :-) J. Crew would be perfect for you, also Tommy Hilfiger, Gap, INC (Macy's brand). My husband loves Eddie Bauer, but its kind of outdoorsy. Ralph Lauren can be okay, but sometimes looks too preppy. Nautica is hit or miss.0

Street fashion: Coogie, Rockawear, Echo, Sean John they have larger mens fashions:glasses:0
-
Depends on your style. My husband is 36, but ever since I met him (when he was 27), he's done most of his shopping from Banana Republic (outlet), he also likes J. Crew and Ralph Lauren. He's always dressed rather preppy.0
-
yes, anyone out of high school (maybe college) should avoid american eagle, af, hollister, etc.
I don't focus on particular brands, rather just stuff that fits well and looks good
fit is by far the most iomportant factor as well as the most overlooked0 -
My bf is 28, and he generally shops at Nordstrom (or Nordstrom rack) and other department stores like Dillards. If he's needing something particularly nice, he likes Banana Republic too.
He wears a lot of Ralph Lauren, and is really simple with his clothes. He doesn't wear anything flashy or whatever, but will spend a little extra for some nice jeans that fit well, or a nice fitting button down shirt. He spends most of the time in a t-shirt and shorts (wears a uniform for work), but most of his nicer clothes are Ralph Lauren or another good brand from a department store. He has this one Calvin Klein button down I'm obsessed with.
I think classic, more understated styles on a man are extremely attractive0 -

This has come up before, so I'll add:
I've dabbled as a professional shopper for Washington DC's elite [mostly during the holiday season]. Sometimes I do this same work online. Feel free to PM me what you wish to present and [roughly] what you believe your budget to be. I'll come up with a single outfit that fits what you are looking for.
If you are pleased with the suggestion and would like to get more advice, we can discuss compensation for future sartorial advice.

I love my Seven jeans, they're expensive but I just can't find any others that are as comfortable or fit as well.
AF, American Eagle, etc I'll go to once in a while for shorts or whatever but I don't want to dress like a college student (I'm 35).
Brooks Brothers has great dress shirts I buy for work.
Polo, J Crew, Hilfiger, Banana Republic, and Gap have some pretty good stuff.
Mostly I do my shopping at outlet stores or places like TJ Max where I can get good deals. I also hate shopping though so I buy a lot of stuff online.0 -
Meh... My husband is a jeans and tshirt (or a long sleeve button down with the arms rolled up and the undershirt showing... but that's on the weekends while we are at home) kinda guy... So I say wear what you like as long as it fits...0
-
AF & Hollister is kid stuff...and a ridiculous company that nobody should support.
Other than that...
I'd say American Eagle sort of bridges the gap between the early 20's and early 30's...you can get away with it for quite awhile. They have some nice stuff.
Kenneth Cole, Banana Republic, Gap, Old Navy, INC, etc...
I do think it depends on your own personal style though...I've known people in their mid-late 30's who could still wear hollister without it looking weird...0 -
I'm 41 and I've been getting my jeans from Rue 21 just because I can and they fit! For dressier clothes, it depends, a lot of Penney's and Kohls. I also like Old Navy for more casual clothes.0
-
My fiance' wears anything from The Buckle: Affliction, Hurley, & Roar are the top ones. Gets my blood boiling - Yummo!
Also Kohl's & Penney's have great clothes as well!! Good Luck with all the advise you'll get! I hope you find something that works!0 -

I agree with this guy. You can pretty much shop anywheres as long as you get clothes that fit properly. As for style, I think that darkwash jeans are flattering, while anything with the "prefaded" lines look immature. A few nice button down shirts and solid color t shirts are staples as well. If you are on the process of losing weight, Id stick to cheaper items til you get to your goal, and then splurge on better quality pieces. A nice pair shoes and new coat can get you through most errands without worrying what you wear under the coat.0 -
get Jordan shorts, they are baggy, and easy to move around in...0

J. Crew
Jos. A. Bank
Brooks Brothers0 -
bump for more advice.
Personally If I choose a classically designed piece of clothing and its made by AF, Hollister, Aeropostale...it doesn't matter who made it. Anyone that still looks at a label to judge someone...Now that's high school!0 -

You have it right on bro! I like to wear clothing that never goes out of style. I mean it's cool to have trendy brands once in a while but it's also great to have clothing that are 10 years old that looks new.
Bonobos is a win

Unless they are paying you, you shouldn't have a logo on your shirt. Outside of that, any brand is "acceptable" as long as it fits well and you like it. Oh, one more thing, NO MAN SHOULD HAVE FANCY STITCHING ON THE @$$ OF HIS JEANS! Gay or straight, that is just a no-no!0

also please avoid ed hardy, tapout, affliction, etc like the plague0 -
Wow. I never ever think about this. I just buy whatever I want. I am so anti-brand that I dont' even know what's what. I just buy what looks good, fits well, and feels good, and is in an acceptable range of affordability and is on sale. LOL. I dont' think about age appropraite clothing. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I'm not criticisng you for asking, it's just kind of silly that people worry or think about it.0

That's not the impression I was getting from some of the comments. Of course there is a difference between dressing professionally for work and dressing casually for yourself. I definitely agree that it gives off an impression of your personality, but I dont want to have a relationship with anyone that would judge someone based off of a label. That's pathetic and immature.
Hollister
Brooks Brothers
So in some peoples opinion Picture one is an image of immaturity but picture 2 is class style and maturity0 -

Great site by the way0 -
My guy wears mostly Seven For All Mankind jeans and True religion. He has AF too and I think they look good on him. As far as shirts, he wears Calvin Klein v-necks or a fitted tee. . I think he looks hot on a daily basis. I think guys look good in plain clothes that fit just right. Anything loud and bedazzled just doesn't work.0
