I noticed that some people include on their tickers their number of smoke free days. I think that is awesome! Congratulations! Stopping smoking is the single greatest step you could take toward getting fit.

The media is currently fixated on obesity as the number one health threat, and sure it is a huge problem. But think about it ... five or ten years ago they were fixated on smoking as the number one health threat. Did anyone ever consider that maybe we're overweight because we quite smoking?!!

Seriously, it is a major accomplishment to quit smoking, and to do that while trying to lose weight is amazing. You are my heroes!

My surgeon asked me to quit smoking prior to spinal surgery. It was easy to quit, knowing the surgery would be more successful by quitting. I'm really proud of myself and all of those who have quit as well.

    Thanks!

I was a "yo yo" quitter hehe. I quit when I got pregnant in June of last year... started up again when I was done breast feeding and then quit July 1st of this year after meeting my husband's grandmother who had lung cancer, empasima, could only breath with 1% of her lungs and had an oxygen tank. She has since left us but is in a much better place.. She smoked all her life. I'm still trying to get my dumb ox of a husband to quit!!! Congrats to all!!

I'm so glad I quit. I can't imagine exercising while smoking.

Although I admit, a couple weeks ago I got in a really big fight with my fiance and smoked two packs. I'm actually kinda glad I did it, because for those two days I felt AWFUL! I seriously felt like I was going to throw up at any moment. And now I don't even want to touch a cigarette because of how awful I felt.
