Missing my Dad; hiking

So I love to hike, my dad did too. He passed about 1 1/2 years ago. We always used to drive up to Lake Tahoe and spend a week hiking and reading. My mom doesn't want to go this year, she can't walk much any more and says it's no fun without Dad. I understand, and it is a long drive; we live in San Diego, it's about a 12 hour drive. But I feel like I'm losing a part of my Dad if we stop going...... Just wanted to share a little....thanks.

    I'm sorry.

I lost my dad 14 years ago. The first few years are so hard, as you have to get used to all those traditions, etc, without him. When I feel extra sad about it I like to spend some time doing things that he loved, or buy flowers in his favorite color, play some of his favorite music, or eat one of his favorite foods (banana and chocolate milkshake, yikes! haha). It's impossible to re-create all of your old memories, and in my opinion that actually makes it worse sometimes, but you can honor him in other small ways all the time. Maybe get out to some of the beautiful hiking spots in SD to think of him, and know that he would be happy. This time of year always makes me think of my dad, so I am with you on this one. :/
