protein powder question

I'm sorry. I know there are plenty of threads about protein powder, but I have a question...
I read in the 150 best foods on earth, or 150 super foods or something like that that whey protein is the way to go. It said that it was the purest and most simple form of protein.
in another book is said to stay away from whey because it's plant based and to stick with pea, hemp, brown rice, and/or soy.
can anybody explain the difference between all these types of proteins and how the body digests them? Thanks!!!

Either that was a typo or that book is obviously wrong.....
Because Whey(faster digesting) & casein (slower digesting) are proteins found in milk, not plants.
And pea, hemp, brown rice, and/or soy are plants.0 -

sorry. that was my typo. i left out the word not. it said to stay away from whey because it's NOT plant based. oops.0 -
Was that book specifically written for vegans? If not, then they must be smoking something.
I would say, if you are not morally opposed to eating protein from animal sources, then go with whey.0 -
Agree with the last poster - not sure where pant-based powders get their proteins from, but they definitely don't have a good amino acid profile compared to whey/casein. Aminos are important for your bodily functions and are the essential building blocks of protein.
If you're not a vegetarian/vegan, go for it - but if you are and are opposed to meat proteins then look around and shop plant-based though I personally wouldn't go that route0 -
Stick to the whey. If you get the isolate then it has the lowest calories per gram of protein. And some even taste really good.
I have tried some of the soy, I would rather go without then have to drink those.0 -
