I just got new running shoes and I went running for the first time with them and I had some pain in the arch of my right foot....should I return them and try something else or do I just need for them to get broken in....Also it feels like my right foot is tilting inward at my ankle I've also noticed this with my old shoes but not as bad...is this just the way I run or does it have to do with the shoes, it's kind of annoying because it feels off.

I wasn't fitted for the shoes or anything I just got them at lady footlocker the lady there said a lot of women use them for running but didn't seem to really be very knowledgeable about helping me find the right shoe for me.

All shoes have a purpose, and it is very crucial that you get the one that is right for your foot. Going by the information you have given you need a shoe that will offer at least moderate support. Most shoe stores will take shoes back if you tried them once and they were uncomfortable. I am a trained running a specialist for ****s sporting goods and would recommend you look into the asics 2170 ($109) or the ascis 1170 ($89.99) both offer stability and support for your arch and gel heels and forefoot to absorb impact making it easier on your joints. I would also recommend the Brooks Adrenaline($109) and Ravenna( 99.99) they offer the same support with a softer upper. All of these shoes should be at footlocker.

take the shoes back and go to a running store. Yes, you will probably pay a premium, but then you won't injure yourself. They will talk to you about your current shoes, issues, analyze your running style, size your feet properly, and find the right shoe for YOUR needs. I don't regret it for a second. Good luck!!
