HELP!!! BMR/TDEE--Eat/Don't Eat (??)

I am very confused about how many calories I need to be eating to achieve maximum weight loss. I have read so many forums and web site info to the point that I am overwhelmed with information. I keep reading about the need to eat more than my BMR, while still creating a deficit under TDEE.

I started at 1200 cals and went from lazy buns to exercising 5-6 days a week in the beginning. I realized I was not eating enough and was depleting my energy daily. I have since increased my calorie intake to 1300 cals and I usually eat either whole or part of my exercise calories back. I am still exercising 5-6 days a week, averaging 200-300 cals burned each day. My routine consists of cardio, strength training, and free weights at home. I have lost a total of 15 lbs in two months, but have not seen a change in weight in nearly a week.

As I mentioned, I have read a lot of info about people eating above BMR to achieve long term, steady weight loss and now I am considering implementing this theory into my weight loss regimine. But, frankly, I am SCARED to eat that much and I don't know if what works for some will also work for me. I am calling on the MFP community to help me out with this, as I want to lose 42 more lbs to get into the "normal" BMI range for my height.

I looked up my BMR and TDEE today to get an idea of what that would mean in terms of caloric intake. I am not sure how far under TDEE to eat, but have read that it should be cut by 15%. Is this % too low?

BMR: 1668
TDEE: 2578
TDEE-15%: 2191

And honestly, if you are going by the government standard BMI scale, throw it out the window.

    It is a COMPLETE JOKE.

I actually just found that group and read the forum. It makes a lot of sense. And, I shamelessly was referring to that old BMI chart.... I was just using it as reference to infer my desire to be at a healthy weight. Thanks for your reply. I think I am going to try to do this... the right way. YIKES!
