I'm 5'1 currently 185 lbs and I have (last time I checked 10 lbs ago) 127 lbs of lean muscle mass. My goal is to weigh 145. To date I've lost 47 lbs. I keep getting mixed info. In order to maintain the lean muscle mass I currently have.. and I want to be sexy toned too :) how much protein should I be eating everyday? Any other suggestions you want to offer are greatly appreciated as well.

I do workout.. full body circuit workouts with weights (medicine balls, dumb bells, kettle bells usually in the 25 lb range/15ish reps). I could be lifting heavier.. and I'm planning to start a heavy lifting program twice a week. I do the circuit training twice a week with a trainer and I play in softball and ultimate frisbee leagues as well.

Thanks for your help.

.5 to 1g of protein for every pound of lean mass.

Each person is unique. But as a general rule, you should eat at the very least .8 times your body weight and can go up to 1 times your body weight, or 1 gram per body weight. I'm on a low carb, high protein diet so I exceed the minimum but don't go to the maximum. Very few people need 1 gram per body weight. Even active people don't need an awful lot. Certainly I can't imagine anyone needing more than one gram per pound of body weight.

And If I eat more than 127?? Will it build muscle? I've heard that there is no way that protein can store as fat.. then I've heard that it can store as fat. I've heard that your body will either use it or waste it and I've heard that your body will use it, waste it, or store it.. and that your body can only digest so much protein at one time..and that that's broscience and you can eat what ever the hell you want whenever you want as long as you stay in your macros and your calories.

So... What if I eat 150 grams of protein and its spread throughout 3-5 meals.. am I safe to assume that my body will use it or waste it and not store it? cuz I really don't wanna get fat again and it all really freaks me out LOL And will eating 150 benefit me in increasing muscle while still decreasing fat?

    THANKS!
