Ok I know I've posted asking questions about calories a few times now. But I am 21 yrs, female, 115lbs trying to maintain my current weight. I changed my MFP setting to "maintenance" and I am "lightly active" and MFP gives me 1700 net cals. Does that sound right? really???

Yup, or even higher possibly. My maintenance is 1950, but my weight is more and I'm older.

    The easy answer: Maybe.

The useful answer: Think of it like a starting point. You're going to need to watch for a few weeks. If you gain, it's too much. If you lose, it's too little.

You'll have a good idea of where you need to be after a little bit.

Also, your height factors in, when calculating this number.

Thanks guys for the advice! I really just was shocked..I am a very active person but just wow- I didn't think eating that much as a base PLUS then add my exercise cals (which is usually alot) was possible without gaining...I will def take the advice and evaluate throughout because I do not want to gain/lose much.
Stormie-do you have your setting to lose weight? sorry, I glanced at your food diary to get ideas. but your maintenance would be 1950? Thanks!

I'm set to lose 1 pound a week ie: 500 calorie deficit. So my calorie goal is 1,450 right now. I'm averaging that and eating what feels like a LOT of food, to me, lol. I'm SO not used to eating more than about 600-700 a day. It's taken me nearly 4 months to get up to a reasonable intake and get my metabolism stabilized.

If I were you, I'd ease up to that 1700. Instead of abruptly increasing your calorie intake, just gradually raise the bar by 50 or 100 every week or two to allow your body to become accustomed to the new amount.

ps....today was a cheat day. Not a normal day, by far.
