Hello everyone! I have some questions about workout Dvds. I am currently doing Jillian Micheal's 30 Day Shred, but I want to start another Dvd series that isn't too hard, but still challenging. I know Insanity is extremely challenging, and I hope to do that when I get in better shape, but definitely not yet. I borrowed p90x from my cousin, but it is an hour per Dvd and some of the days require two Dvds so I don't know if I have enough time for them, but I haven't tried them yet. I have heard of Turbo Fire but I'm not sure what it is. I would just like to know which Dvds are good workouts and what do all of you MFPers recommend? Thanks!

What exactly is Taebo? And how long is it? I'm very curious about all workouts to find the best one for me. =)

I'm doing P90X right now and I really enjoy it. It is an hour, but it goes by quickly. Also, the yoga DVD is like 90 minutes, but I do a different yoga that I enjoy more...And on the days you do two DVD's the second is only 15 minutes.

Oh wow, I didn't know the second dvd of p90x was only 15 minutes. I might end up doing that then. It is extremely hard? How much exercise experience did you have before doing it? Lol

But then again I might try the kick boxing one. That sounds like a lot of fun plus it is a small amount of time. =)

    Now I'm so confused. Haha

I am a beachbody coach. When I started back to working out, I started with the slim series. I like this series because it was a great way to get back into working out. I then went to Rockin Body. If you like dancing that is a great videos to do. You don't even feel like you are working out and you burn a lot of calories. I started to do p90x to get me ready for Warrior Dash. I am now doing Brazil Butt Lift. I am in a 60 day challenge. I am on week 5. I may not like the workouts as much but it is truly working. Everyone can see a difference. I would reccomend this one. I am going back to p90x/Insanity starting the end of June. If you have any questions about any of these videos or want support/motivate, I am here for you. I can send you videos and information about them.

P90X works like this: You work out 6-7 days a week doing 3 days a week of lifting weights + ab work, 2 days a week of some semblence of cardio exercise (usually plyometrics or some form of kickboxing based workout), 1 day a week of yoga, and 1 optional day of stretching/flexibility exercises. Except for a DVD called Core Synergistics which is a total body workout you do during the third month with lighter weights, all of the weightlifting is done with a split similar to how bodybuilders train: Except for your back, which is worked twice a week, you never hit the same muscle group twice in one week. The Yoga video is 92 minutes long and is the longest one in the series. The other workouts are typically 45 minutes to 1 hour in length. All in all you should expect to devote roughly 90 minutes a day to your workout.

Personally I'm not a fan. There are a lot of other programs you can do that show similar results with less time investment than P90X, they just don't come with as big of an advertising campaign behind them. I tried P90X but in the end the best results I ever got came from following a program I put together that combined calisthenics and HIIT based cardio workouts with a jump rope.

I just started p90x. I'm fitting it in around my work schedule so I'm doing it every other day at the moment. Really enjoying it, you get regular breaks and they encourage you to pause it if you're finding it too difficult. Oh but beware ab attack and plyometrics, I'm still feeling the burn after 2 days!

Not trying to call you out or anything, but heavily structured workout programs like this one were made to be followed strictly by the schedule. If you can't do that, then you really should find other programs. To be honest you could probably put your own together that would be just as good if not better AND fit into your schedule if you read up a bit on the fundamentals of weight training and working out in general.
