Zumba class versus Zumba for Wii/XBOX 360?

I'd love to try a Zumba class and I am wondering if anyone has done both of these. If I get the video 'game', if it would be just as good as the real thing?

I have done both personally I like doing it at home because I have no moves whats so ever lol.0

I prefer the class, I work harder because I want to keep up with everyone. I'm too lazy to do it at home!0

I have the Zumba for the Wii and I love it. I am too self-conscious about the way I look when dancing to take a class (always have been even when I was thin and in shape). It is a great workout. My step-sister has done both. She likes both, but I know she really enjoys taking the classes more because she had a group of about four girls she went with.0

I have done both, but I prefer at home that way nobody can bump all into me and I have total space for myself.0

Thanks everyone!! I will get the home version, perhaps my husband will join me!0

I've been tempted to get the home version because I can't justify even more time away from my kids! At least with the Wii version, I'd be able to do it once they're in bed or they might even be able to join in.0

I do both regularly. Love the class, it's always fresh, new music etc...lots of energy with everyone and I have zumba 2 for Wii and it is very similar, but not as fun as with a group. But when I can't get to class, I'm glad I have the Wii. It's a great workout and you select your intensity and length of program based on ability and time. You burn the same amount of calories either way. IMO though the game is totally worth it.0

I love my class, but I may get it for home too just because I do love it so much How's the music on the Wii one? I like my class because they do hip hop music too, not just latin music.0

I've been to class. I got really crowded as weeks went by and i'm short, so i could not see my moves in the mirror most of the time or the instructor for that matter. LOL So I ordered the wii game and I do it about 6 times a week. What's great is that I can do it anytime I want, for the amount of time I want. Saves me time and I enjoy it more than class0

I have Zumba for the Wii and I work it HARD! I know I'd probably burn a bit more at a class but the Wii game is more affordable than a gym membership for me. It's fun, the music's good, and I find myself redoing the classes that I like, so I'm getting a lot out of it. I end a 20 minute class soaked with sweat!! There's a tutorial to help learn some of the moves but you can even skip that if you want.
Don't be disappointed- the Wii can't tell if you're doing the moves RIGHT, it only senses you shaking your hips and gives you feedback/reward for shaking it good. That's frustrating during the tutorials, so I would put the remote down during those and just shake it when I was ready to try the next move.
It gives you hours of workout time, and for $40 that's really economical based on paying $10 for workout DVDs.
Oh- I do it in stocking feet so I can easily turn on my toes on the carpet. This is strengthening my ankles and feet too. I don't see how it could be done in tennis shoes on carpet, either.0 -
